Hello, I'm dealing with extreme distress for the past few months. I'm in therapy but I can't seem to cope with my sh thoughts. I also feel I've attachment issues. I've been diagnosed with depression, OCD, anxiety.

They're suspecting that I may have generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD.

Every little thing is bringing back a lot for me from the past and I struggle with talking about my feelings most of the time. So, typing is sometimes a better option for me but then I can feel very alone in my thoughts. At the same time, my mental health issues aren't letting me make connections and I feel like a terrible person. (Maybe I'm). The only way I find to protect myself is to stay away from people but that doesn't always help because I'm extremely emotional.

The thoughts I think that trigger my sh thoughts -

1. Not finding myself able to process my thoughts when they're recurring.

2. Hating myself for not being able to heal after all this time. (I'm trying to be patient but some days can be difficult)

3. Seeing the old scars.

4. Not being able to express anger.

5. Always feeling a sense of protectiveness towards other people. I hu.rt myself when I fall in love or make a close friendship, for example. Most of the time the people don't know because I'm protecting them by taking out my feelings somewhere else instead of telling them.

6. Memories from my past related to something extreme that I faced.

7. Going to doctors can bring back things.

I'd like to have some tips regarding how to deal with these thoughts as they're impulsive and I can't talk when they come through.

Thank you!

Practicing mindfulness is one of the most helpful tools we have for combatting PTSD. I'm also on a mood stabilizer (lithium) to help with my s*****dal thoughts. Nothing can do the work for you but therapy, mindfulness, medication, meditation, may be able to show you new ways to cope with how you're feeling. You might be able to bring someone to the doctor with you who knows the full story. Also a safe word when you're triggered could be helpful to notify your friends and loved ones.

I see. Thank you for responding.

The last line I think helped me the most. Although I struggle to convey my thoughts, sometimes I do tell my family that I've had extreme thoughts. They have become the code automatically but I think I need something better. I will think about it.

Thank you once again! :)
