Old Memories/Experiences Haunting & Taunting...
It feels like my old experiences and memories keep haunting and taunting me... Even the littlest of things can trigger bad memories or my PTSD pretty badly and feel anxious as well as fear to even want to go outside anymore... There's people I trusted, but they let me down, some caused physical harm, one made me nearly unalive, a couple have used me financially, and others affected my mental health.
My heart and my head have been feeling pain for a long while now...apart from my body, due to medical issues. Some caused from an incident a decade a ago, and some a few years ago caused by the person who nearly made me unalive...
I'm currently on meds prescribed by the doctor, but all it does is numb me. I'm not as emotional as prior, it's more contained, but I'm still hurting inside.
Prior, I used to use substances such as MJ to numb my emotions and to numb the chronic pain. Sometimes, I would drink alcohol, but I quit those things cold turkey to try and better my life. I've stopped for a couple of months now...
But having a hard time coping with this depression and agoraphobia. I feel like a bird who's caged inside...
I can't work until I've recovered medically. I'm too afraid to leave my home unless it's absolutely necessary, such as taking the little one to daycare or going to hospital appointments. I've had stalkers too that have came to my home many times and stalk me to my domestic violence support group, that I quit going...
I'm pretty avoidant of people now, and usually in fight-or-flight mode if someone approaches me.
I've been trying to fill my time in with hobbies and making pen pals online, but been doing the bare minimum...Just...feeling upset and tired a lot. Hardly any energy and end up sleeping a lot...
How have you guys been coping with your depression?...
Has it gotten more manageable overtime?
I am so, so sorry that you are suffering. Yes, it most definitely does get better over time. But it is SO hard to tell that things are improving when they really are.
Are you talking to anyone on a one on one basis? There are lots of therapists online now which can make the going outside part easier.
Then praise yourself every time that you do make it outside. Those are victories even if they are just taking a little one to day care or getting out to the store.
Rest as much as you can and be sure that you are eating and drinking water properly. Those things can really help.
Come on here as often as you want. If you would like, you can put a message in this thread every day and I will answer it once a day.@ImpudentIncognito
