Positive psychology is actually rational

I am a beginner psychology student and in my studies we are learning about different methods in therapy. So, I recently checked out some stuff about positive psychology, and it’s not just about “thinking happy thoughts” like I thought. I think many of us have our biases towards “positive” thinking as something shallow or factitious. I was pleasantly surprised diving deeper in this method that it’s actually more about being rational and realistic-like focusing on your strengths and staying hopeful without ignoring the tough stuff. It’s kind of a smarter way to look at happiness and mental health.

Fun fact: the word positive comes from Latin positivus, meaning “settled by agreement” or “put in place.” It originally meant something definite or established, not just “good” or “happy.”

Definitely cool to learn about if you want a fresh take on staying positive!
