Sometimes you are alone and thats ok
I've heard the advice that when you are going through things tell someone. When I was younger, the advice was to tell a parent/ guardian or family, as I got older the advice was to tell a friend. I've been told that depression isn't a road to walk alone and the ones that care about you will walk with you. I've been told you are not alone.
I sometimes think these are some of the worst advices I've gotten.
I once did, in my darkest days I told a parent, in one of the darkest moments in my life, I called a friend and I was left more hurt and broken than I was before. I was left to realize that although some people may not be alone, that some people have others to help them walk through the journey that is depression, I do not.
I had to realize that my faith is the only thing I can lean on and no one person is going to be there for me and that I need to stop expecting people to care. The advice I've hard countless times has lead to some of my greatest disappointments and some of worst seasons of depression that I still wonder how I got out of.
I will say though, although I am going through it alone - depression is not a unique experience and there are countless of people that have gone through it.
Sometimes you are alone, sometimes the only person that will save you is you so stop looking arond and start looking in the mirror and get to saving. Its a hard long journey, one that is worth having and one day you will look back amazed at how far you've gone alone. I would also say find faith, when your back is to the wall find faith that you can lean on.
Spoiler alert - It works out, even when it feels like it wont, with time it all works out and with even longer time you'll look back and realize the purpose behind it.
As I write this, I realize this is a reminder to myself to get up and fight the battle of depression and that although I am alone there is another in the fire with some time this to shall pass. This is my reminder that I need to get up and fight, even though I don't want to.
@callmeRM well said ❤❤hugs you tightly, it will get better, we all will have to fight through the bad to get to the good, and yes God is always by our side ❤❤❤
'but darling there is no light at the end of the tunnel, you must realise YOU are the light ❤
It’s difficult for anyone who isn’t depressed to understand what this feels like - when one is thinking normally, answers come easy. I’ve had this experience recently in my own family, one sister just thinks you can switch it off like a light switch. Others are more understanding, but no one can take it away, sadly.
But we are here. So you don’t walk alone - even if we are only on a screen. So say what you need to say, and we’ll do our best to support you.
