I feel guilty because I can't draw something complicated.

I've been trying to learn how to draw for a long time, and I've come to the conclusion that I only have enough perseverance for small and cute projects. i can draw chibi, cartoon animals or sketch portraits. even if i try to start some cool full-fledged work, i don't have the patience to finish it. every time i take on something like that, i start to hate the process.

On the other hand, when I only paint something simple, I feel ashamed that I'm not evolving. I realize that I have ideas that I can't realize myself or that don't fit my style. then I go to other artists to commission the idea from them.

People are always saying to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone. but for me, outside of that comfort zone, there is frustration and fatigue. and not for five minutes, I spent years on this before I decided to settle on something simple. otherwise I would have just given up painting altogether.

I am sorry that art feels like such a struggle right now. Is there a reason why doing art is so important to you?

There are so many different kinds of art to try. What would experimenting with a different kind of medium look like? Maybe you are ultimately better with clay or collage or graffiti or yarn or plastics. Maybe doing music or writing drama or poetry would be better.

Everyone's brain works differently and thus art isn't something you can really fail at. You just have to find the form that works for you. @sadmeoemeow

I’m an artist as well and my mental health effects my creativity/ability to focus as well. In my youth I was able to spend hours on the same oil painting. Lately all I have spoons for are small watercolor & ink illustrations. They’re cute but not the kind of work I want to be doing. It’s a frustrating place to be for sure. You aren’t alone. I hate my depression for stealing my hobbies and my joy in life.

it’s helpful for me to focus on creating just for the sake of creation. Just to self express and play and make marks on the page.

Feeling like this is part of the process. I've been drawing since I was 4 years old, And if I give you some advice, even if you don't like it, you have to trust the process, take advantage of your mistakes. They are not stains, they are the beginning of a drawing

Something that helps a lot is to draw anything without thinking about it, just let your hand move.

And anyway, there are millions of styles and ways to draw, there is no such thing as a bad drawing

It happens to me a lot lately

Draw for fun, I'm sure yours are pretty
