The smallest things feel like the biggest achievements...

...when feeling depressed.

So, I've been depressed ever since I was little due to growing up in a dysfunctional and abusive home.
Then, I had PPD after the birth of my little one and my PTSD became worse overtime when I was with my ex-fiancé at the time who almost made me unalive.

I went through a tumultuous couple of years of losing my job, getting evicted, losing my car, having my son taking away from me and placed into temporary custody of my ex's abusive sister, getting into a car wreck, being homeless, was starving, being used by a former lover, etc...

But anyways...
I noticed that when I do something as small as brush my teeth, make my bed, take a shower, groom my eyebrows, wash dishes, do laundry, etc etc...

It feels like a big accomplishment for me.
I kind of feel oddly...proud that I was able to do it??

But then I think "Oh, this is just normal everyday stuff that 'normal' people are capable of doing daily"...However...

I think it's still accomplishment, because yesterday me or a week ago me couldn't do what today me is doing. I try to keep my frame of thought that way.

My past self, a couple of years ago before I became disabled was capable of doing more than present me, but that's OK. I can work to get to that point again and (hopefully) surpass that level if I'm able to fully recover.

Anyways...

I just want to send a message out there that it's OK if you can't do what you used to or what you wish you could do.

It is a big deal (in my opinion) if you were able to make your bed today, took a nap, went for a walk, listened to relaxing music, or maybe even muster the courage to send a message to a loved one when you're feeling lonely or isolated...or even coming to 7cups for support, that's a big deal too. Those "small" things are honestly big leaps into something greater.

Keep at it, we can do this!
