War Fear
Hi, I’m struggling with fear and depression due to the India-Pakistan conflict. It’s been really hard emotionally.

Hello. I guess you are living in one of the countries directly involved in the conflict?
Yes. It must be terrible even to imagine that one day your world suddenly stops, and everything you did up to the day before is not important. When your loved ones' safety and lives might be at risk. And when you have to leave the places you know, having nowhere to go. I've seen it in the eyes and heard it in the voices of some people fleeing to my country from Ukraine.
The good news is the hostilities in your part of the world have ceased, at least for the time. And I hope not only among ordinary people, but also among the decision makers, there is a belief that war brings no good to any country or any society.
When I see the effects that World War II still has on my country - on our society, upbringing children, emotions, our way of thinking - that's enormous, even after over half a century has passed by.
Some academic people claim that now, in the era of global economy and communication, while everything is interconnected, wars make completely no sense and shouldn't happen. Somehow, they were wrong about Ukraine.
But everything that happens - whether it's war, an earthquake or a tsunami, a nuclear power plant disaster or a large-scale power blackout - it emphasizes on thing: Dust in the wind. All we are is dust in the wind.
And we have to find a way to cope with our limited capabilities, our vulnerability, our fragility - to make even small moments of happiness when possible, to not give up our lives to fear. Because if we smile and do our best to be happy, we win, and if we let the fear be the driving force of our lives, we lose...
