When should I ask for help?
Hi everyone. I’m not sure exactly how to ask a question like this, but how do I know when to talk to someone about how I am feeling? I’m not diagnosed with anything, but I often wonder if I should get tested because I have suspicions about being depressed. I guess the real question I have today is…how do I know I'm depressed rather than just being dramatic? Like, what are some signs that I am depressed? I know it is different for everyone, but I’m wondering if I feel the same as someone out there.

It's going to sound cliche for sure, but everyone is different.
When I'm at my lowest, I'm listening to sad songs and crying and needing human talking to get me to my right self.
Others are trying to battle their demons with a single stick, whacking them by themselves in the comfort of their own home.
Some will want to talk as soon as they bear the slightest sign of ill will or sadness.
The point is, when do you want to talk? could be now, could be later. just reach out, and one of us will be here to help.
@Murdog32 The fact that you’re even questioning how you feel shows that you’re self-aware and trying to understand what’s going on and that takes a lot of courage.
You don’t have to be diagnosed or have everything figured out to talk to someone. If something feels off for a while and it’s messing with your day-to-day life, that’s reason enough. And you deserve to feel better, whether or not it has a label.
And remember, asking for help doesn’t mean you’re broken or weak and that’s actually a really strong thing to do💛

Hello! I want to first tell you that it takes a lot of courage to ask this question. I am glad that you did. You are not being dramatic -- your feelings are valid, and it makes sense to wonder where they're coming from.
Depression can show up differently for everyone, but some common signs include persistent sadness, feeling hopeless, losing interest in things you once enjoyed, struggling with energy levels, changes in sleep or appetite, and feeling disconnected. It is okay if some of the symptoms resonate with you and others don't. What matters most is how you are experiencing things and how they are affecting your daily life.
I think it might be a sign that you should talk to someone if you are wondering about talking to someone about how you're feeling. You don't need a diagnosis to reach out for support, and you deserve care no matter where you are at in your journey! Whether this means opening up to a friend, family member, or professional, you don't have to figure it all out alone.
You're not alone in this, and your feelings are real. No matter where you go from here, know that your experience matters.
