Work stress

Hi there,

I’m experiencing depression due to work drama. I feel like everyone is faking it and *** on each other. Nobody cares the work itself. Managers do nothing but push us to make themselves look good and relive their stress and anxiety. How could people live in such a toxic environment until retire??? It’s so desperate.

Different workplaces, and if the company is big enough, different departments, have different cultures. And it is totally true that some of these cultures are very harmful. In these cases it is very important to look after your own mental health and find a work culture that better suits.

But it's also true that people everywhere have problems. And I've found that one of the skills of work is learning how to manage managers. There's some great resources out there, such as the book, Crucial Conversations. There have even been times when I've decided that changing the culture of the people I'm working with is more important work, than the actual work I've been assigned. It's not easy, but it can be very fun and satisfying to do.
