Your body, as a bodygard

Hi there,

I am new here. I am a psychomotor therapist. As such, i have learned the difference between using my body as, lets say, a vehicule or a machine, and inhabiting it.

My body has become a friend i can trust when i don t want to listen to my inner self.

It tell me when i am trying to push beyond my limits.

Listen to your body. Move it. Slowly. From your feet right up to your head. Either lying down, sitting down or standing up. Shake it. Feel how your muscles and bones react. Check for unwanted tensions, they tell you you need to loosen up.

Massage your feet, caress your skin. You re the only person like that. You re the only one feeling that touch that way.

How does it feel? Weird at first usually. And after some practice, so good...

Take care!

@Cheztao

Welcome to 7 cups.

My body is amazing.

I agree that listening to it is so important. And useful. I'm still learning to listen to mine, but it's changing my life.

It's a shame it's not a more generally taught skill. It certainly wasn't taught to me. In fact, I feel we are normally taught the opposite - to be ashamed of our bodies. Which leads us to try to separate from them. I agree with the trend to consider us more of a whole.
