i had midterms a few weeks ago and everything was going great and i did really well and i was happy but now I'm just burnt out and i feel so bad because i don't know how to be productive anymore so i just feel like a failure because i can't get anything done. i haven't been performing well in anything like my grades are going down and my performance in my sport is not great either. i feel like i need to do better but i can't bring myself to do anything about it. i feel unmotivated and hopeless and i don't know how to fix this.

@indigoSquare8259 I understand feeling burnt out and unmotivated can be difficult experiences. It sounds like you were doing well with your midterms but are now feeling the effects of pushing yourself hard. Feelings of being a failure or hopeless are tough, but they are temporary and do not define who you are. Maybe it would help to take a step back and practice self-compassion.

Please know we are all here with you to listen and support, square. you are not alone

@indigoSquare8259 I'm sorry to hear you're going through a bit of a rough stretch right now in regards to finding motivation and energy. You are not alone in experiencing these ups and downs. It is unfortunate but also common that when something negative does happen it can end up disturbing the whole balance of our lives and then our brain just manages to find more and more things to pile on top of the other. Falling down a vicious spiral like this can undoubtedly be an exhausting ordeal. As someone else pointed out, this is temporary, so make the most out of knowing that there's a light at the end of the tunnel.

The fact that you decided to share your struggles on the forum is a positive thing. You never know, you may have indirectly provided comfort to someone through your post by reassuring them that others do indeed experience hardships such as yours.

The end of the semester is always a hard push. Others are very clearly feeling the same way as you are. What kinds of things are you doing to care for yourself and take mini-breaks? @indigoSquare8259

Those are all awesome things! Keep doing them. Break down the things that you have to do into small tasks rather than looking at the whole thing. It makes it tons easier. Then praise yourself for each little thing you do even if it is reading 5 pages or writing a paragraph. When you beat yourself up for not doing stuff, you end up in a loop where you do less stuff.

Cleaning your room is actually good. Spending time outside is also good. @indigoSquare8259
