Depression makes me feel like I am trapped, like heartbreak heartache, like I will sabotage my best efforts.

@50firstLates

I can relate to that when I felt like I was inbox that didn't let me do anything. Everything felt the same and that nothing was changing at all. What are some things that you have done to make yourself feel less trapped?

I really don’t have anything that can make me feel less trapped in the snap my fingers or go for a walk kind of way. I can only work to change or maintain my circumstances and that is torturously slow, hence the depression. Mine is very situational, crisis sparked. When I am unable to do something I try to adopt Stoic or zen advice. I am resilient. I am determined. I am capable of so much more.

Completely drained and numb, like a lifeless corpse who can only cry or get angry recently

@Brokenbro

I can relate to this feeling, when I would just want to stay in bed for hours instead of getting up to do something.

Depression can sometimes make me come across as moody and angry and that's all people see but it's just sad sad feeling which truly feels like it'll last forever. I yearn for the night to come so I can openly cry in my room without the fear of my family walking in on me. It makes me feel miserable and hopeless as soon as I wake up knowing I'm living the same day over and over again and some people simply don't understand me because of it. So in my small circle of family and friends I probably come across as crazy

It can be tough with depression to feel like the day has never changed at all. What do you think you can do to make your day a little different a little each day?

I try to go on walks here and there just to get out of bed but sometimes I decide to skip it

You put it well. I think people around me assume I'm moody and just an angry person. I don't WANT to be angry. But most people don't seem to understand depression and what it's like not to feel happiness and joy. That only leaves anger and sadness.

Depression has been a part of me for a long time. Even when I think that I have beat the darkness, it lingers waiting for the moment when something bad happens to me. Every time I have a bad day or a tragic event happen it scoops me back into its arms and surrounds my brain in darkness. I can try to fight it, but once you let it in it makes it harder to fight it the next time it happens. Once you get that taste of darkness it never really goes away. It waits as you try to fight it. It waits as you try exercising, eating healthier, going to sleep earlier, journaling, painting, etc. And you might be doing good fighting it for a little while, but it is still there waiting patiently for the day where you slip up so it can scoop you back up. That doesn't keep me from trying to fight it. I still do to this day. I have more winning days than losing now, but it waits for me to give up.

Wow. I understand this completely. Depression will always be apart of me. I’ve accepted that. Sometimes I’m fine, sometimes I’m doing really good, or feeling like a “normal” happy person, but the depression is always there, waiting. It’s constant maintenance to keep it away. When I slack on the maintenance, it usually slips back in. It’s exhausting sometimes. Best of luck to you on this life journey. You are not alone. ❤️

Depression makes me feel alone and isolated. It tells me that I am not good enough and I deserve to be alone. Some days I get so sick of it that I do stand up and say I Am Not Alone.

Did you know that undiagnosed and untreated depression damages the areas of the brain in charge of emotions and feelings? I went undiagnosed since I was 13, I'm 28 now and...this thing that decided that my brain was a good place to live in ruined me, I don't know or remember what happiness SHOULD feel like, I can fake it the same way I can fake a smile. But I don't remember how everything was before this, it's like being empty, hungry for something you can't tell.

Honestly I'm not sure if I have depression, I haven't sought help before. But I feel exhausted everyday, I don't want to talk to people and I get angry at people for speaking to me sometimes. I won't tell anyone my problem because I hate the feeling of being pitied or misunderstood. This is rough ☹
