Hi all:-) I'm posting here tonight because I feel this need to connect/ share with people on a similar journey:-) This time last year I was at the lowest point in my depression. A lot of (group) therapy, reflections, and warmth from friends has gotten me to a way better place, but I am still getting used to this strange phase where I am 'back' in 'normal' life (doing uni, side jobs etc.) while I still feel very fragile and often confused. I just spent a few minutes in one of the chatrooms and already really like this 7 cups environment:-) I'm curious about you all here, and specifically interested to hear from and share with those of you who are also getting to terms with post-depression (is that even a thing?) life!

Lots of virtual hugs and warmth

Hi, @MarloesMaria! It's really nice to meet you - glad to hear you've been enjoying 7 Cups ^^ And your progress is wonderful - way to go!

Post-depression time is definitely strange. In my opinion there is nothing like "going back" to your past life, because after the depressive episode you are a completely different person. You've come through so much pain and dread that you have a different perspective on time, on yourself. After struggling for months or even years, it's hard to recognize where the depressions ends, and where we start. So you have to find out how it is not to be defined by this illness, what are your passions now, what relationships you want to cultivate. You have to somehow forge yourself anew.

But the whole world is still there for you, lovely. The sun shines, the birds sings, and you can finally appreciate those little moments. You are free from the weight of depression. You can breathe freely, you can laugh, you can express all of your emotions. You can give out the love you've been unable to share, you can be ambitious and productive again. And even if it's not perfect, even if it's far from being perfect, it's still worth the recovery. It's worth getting through this hell to finally get back the life you deserve.

Again, lovely to meet you! Hope to hear more from you. Best wishes!
