HI I am new to this site altogether. I am new to being honest about my depression and anxiety. I have covered it up for so long. I finally heard about a doctor in my town who had suffered severely for years and so i went to him because I felt like I finally had someone who understood. I found out he was my same age and so he has been treating me with some different medications to try. So far not a lot has helped me. So I am 40 years old, single, always been very independent and live alone, having a full blown midlife crisis, and not sure how to be more hopeful of the future. The future terrifies me. As life progresses it seems so does life. More and more of my circle of loved ones age and pass away. It can get very overwhelming to say the least. So here I am.

@RickR Hi, it sounds like your going through a lot of emotions at the moment! I'm sorry to hear your feeling so overwhelmed. Life is strange, hard and beautiful all at one time, we have to hold on to all those amazing moments and memories we have had with all those people close to us. Coming to terms with our own mental health is a really hard stage in my opinion, when I realised I had depression my world crumbled and I really did not know how to cope. Luckily with support from people I care about I have come through some of the hardships with it but obviously depression doesn't diassapear even though medication is involved. We all still have low times, it's just how to deal with them. I'm finding yoga and meditation so helpful right now, it clears my head. I was feeling incredibly irritated and frustrated last night at 1.30am so I did some yoga ! After I actually managed to get a good nights sleep which always helps depression and anxiety. Don't feel alone because there are so many of us here to support you. You are loved and cared for. I really wish you all the happiness in the world :)
