Hi guys does anyone feel like they dont care at all. I mean like seriuosly not care, not a positive devil may care attitude but everything is pointless, no feeling any sort of way. Everyrhing could burn butn right now and i would not care, no zest or feeling for anything.

@Overshadowed26, yes, lovely, I did - and I think lots of people in our community felt or are feeling like that right now. I'm not a a professional, but a complete emotional numbness is one of the main symptoms of major depressive disorder. You're not alone in this struggle, lovely.

*hugs*

@Overshadowed26, to be honest it was really hard, but at some point I thought that if I don't care about people in my life or any activities, I can also let those people be and care for me, and do those activities nonetheless. And I'd choose some passive task which I'd perform every day - I've had a couple of depressive episodes and most often I'd chose certain tv shows or anime to watch or maybe reading comics or manga - something which requires almost no energy. Doesn't matter how silly it seems. And the thing is that the goal is not to enjoyed that activity - because at the beginning you won't, depressions makes it impossible to enjoy anything - the goal is to do that thing every day: watch another episode, read another page, so it will become your routine. It distracts you from your numbness, from the time even if only for a little while. It becomes your private anchor in your own existence.

Also, journaling really saved me, too. I'd just wrote down everything what's on my mind day after day, no matter how boring and shallow my thoughts were. And I'd doodle morbid illustrations, just to express somehow the unbearable dread of my existence. (You can see some pages of my journal in this thread.)

Those two coping techniques helped me incredibly in my own recovery from depression, because recoveries are unfortunately really tedious and require patience. In my case there were lots of waiting to book an appointment with a doctor, waiting for that appointment, waiting for the meds to kick-in, not approving the results and side effects, so waiting for another appointment with a doctor and changing the meds, waiting for the new meds to kick-in, not liking them either, so waiting for a third appointment with a doctor, etc. + lots of private self-care and learning how to deconstruct my constant negative inner dialogue which was really challenging for me.

It seems really, really awful and discouraging, but RECOVERY IS WORTH IT. Being able to not only existence, but to live your own life, is worth all of the pain and all of that wait. No one deserves the depression, lovely, no matter of what you're brain is telling you. You deserve better.

*hugs tightly*
