Started when I was about 6. It's been a long journey
@Npepsicola
Tell me. I can possibly relate.
When I was 11 & my grandma died. Then my mom went on a binge of men & I felt thrown away ,uncared for. So it progressed from there off & on antidepressants til I was 23. At 27 I was diagnosed bipolar, ocd, bpd, ptsd & panic disorder
I cannot really determine, when depression started. I suppose it slowly evolved when I started taking drugs and losing my grandparents, who meant the world to me. I was strong for my whole family, packed all their sadness and worries on my little shoulders, as I was only 17 years old. I never really had the time to get over it myself.
Over the next years I stacked up several problems, moved from one city to another, changed jobs, overall my path and relationships were very unstable.
I covered everything up with drugs until the first severe crash as I was 23 years old. My whole world was falling apart and it took about half a year to get back into life.
So my depression was first discovered about 6 years later when it probably started...
Mine started after I'm high school but I never noticed. I got suspended for telling a teacher to 'shut the fuck up'. I was not sleeping well. I would see things, impossible things like dancing angels or grinning demons. I started to cut after high school. I was a wreck. I got a diagnosis of psychotic depression.
My depression was from when I was a kid. I had this sister who was not a good person. I hid myself away to never be like her. Became a grade A student until one day I failed my sixth grade year in the worst bout of depression over losing myself. I sunk to new lows and hated myself for it. I pulle dmy grades up after going to try again but it never felt the same. I felt like my grades were just busy work and nothing more. My sister re-entered my life only to leave several times. Each time I grew number to these things. Then I went to the military. But seeing my mom's face as I said, I am leaving the military killed me. I came home, was a burden on them without any feeling for a long time. I constantly looked down on myself. Still do, honestly. I spent so much time not being my sister... I don't know who I am and it kills me internally to see this in me. I feel like I'm falling behind a door that gets heavier over time. I'm afraid if I can't open it soon and figure out who I am then I am doomed. Its like a weight that drowns me every day but my parents won't listen to these things because they think I should just be okay without even trying to help me or talk to me. I feel like my home, my college, my life is just one big door that I can't open because I dont have a clue what I'll do beyond it. I'm scare because I don't know who I am. It brings me down everyday knowing all this.
You can find a path out by finding other, more supportive people to talk with. You deserve more than what you have now and you have gifts that the world needs.@Dokeshi1

I found some but I'm just too scared to say anything. I feel like I'd burden others if I said anything. Its rough for me to talk to others. I tend to push my own depression in a hole so I can help others until I crack when I'm alone... I don't know why but I feel like I look weak breaking down everything to people who rely on me to help them even though I know they would listen.
I am struggling with depression as far as remember, I was molested as a child being a lesbian in a middle eastern country didn't help either. I moved out of the country when I was around 23 to different countries and now I am in US , I am more depressed and lonely than ever . I can't make any friends, I don't know why. And I always feel very down. It is affecting my daily life more than ever
I personal struggle with depression and anxiety started as a kid, unfortunately when I was a kid depression and anxiety we're not things we talked slot about, I remember days of going through hell and having no one to talk to it has been a very long hard struggle, I remember trying to talk to the couceler at school, and as nice as she was she really didn't have a lot to offer me in the way of support. I remember feeling very alone, I still feel that way. When you are struggling with a sickness or disease there are lots of people That are there to listen, but when you struggle with mental health issues, it's amazing at just how little support there really is. I have been married twice my first wife didn't understand she viewed me as a bit of a freak. My second and current wife is pretty much the same, she doesn't understand what it's like to go through a day filled with anxiety. So I guess my biggest struggle I have had with mental health is the lack of support, the constant acting like nothing is wrong and yet your just barely holding it together inside, That has been my life since I was a kid, now I try all kinds of mefs, I try the self help books, nothing seems to work, I would never wish this on my worst enemy, it has been very debilitating, it has robbed me of my joy, it has changed my life to the point where I have lost interest in most things, but I do find strength in the fact I have and refuse to give up, life has been hard but it's got to get better
@daydreamer52. I relate to you very well, I too have been married more than once and struggle to find my current spouse to even try to show patience and empathy, you are so right, we are very strong, it takes that to keep going and I believe you are right, one day it will get better, I believe that!
7th grade, once bullying got really bad and I had no friends. Aside from the love and support I received from family, I felt alone and unimportant. I didn't want to go to school most days.
Muy struggle started at 12. I didn't know I passed a depress period. But at 25 I could identify it. The beggining of it started at my 4 when I was abused by a man. My symtom started to appear at 12 and my diagnostic was at 25. Now I have a cruel war with my depression and with all the others factors that it complain. I can remember the abuse but I feel scare in some moments, feel sad un others and can't have good relasionships.
My depression am sure started when I was a young kid but didn't really fully notice it until I was around 18. I have been in and out of seeing therapists for varying reasons but right now it is because of a struggle with a friend which I had gotten quite close to. From the start of what happened and back story.
My friend we will call him M is straight and is 20 and I am gay and 30 will be called B. M's mother is very dominate and he is quite submissive. M is letting his hormones control a lot of his life as well. M's family has bought a hotel in another country which that is why they left for 2 and half months. M and me have known each other for around 9 months getting really close talking almost every day and hanging out almost every week doing all sorts of stuff. We talked about pretty much everything. I noticed that I was flirting with him and he noticed as well so we talked about sexuality. We spent weeks talking about how he felt about his own sexuality. Months went on until last Nov we talked about getting more physical and he was a little hesident which was okay so we kept just talking about it from time to time until the day came. It came in Feb and it went fine or so I thought. The next day we were talking and things were going great until something happened and his mother got involved not sure why but now a month and half later still have not heard anything from him at all. He has unfriended me from most social networks and still ignoring any messages I had sent him. I tried to give him space to think and process whatever he needed to.
I have just been having a hard time dealing with all of this because we went from being great friend and him saying how much he valued our friendship and how we would fix everything to now it is like I am some stranger or worse he feels like I am some pervert. I am not even able to tell him how sorry I am or ask forgiveness. Wish I knew what to do. I am trying to wait it out until he comes back and hopes he reaches out to me but I feel that it is over.
