New to this website, looking for others like me to talk to
Hi, im 17 and a girl.. I've had depression for a couple years now i think it started around when i was transitioning to high school. One of the hardest things is that people in my grade have no idea and would probably be shocked if they found out. I have managed to tell a couple friends, but most of my closest friends and my family has doesn't know about it. I have trouble falling asleep at night and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to get a healthy routine to stick throughout the day, or other suggestions of how to be happier in general
Hi Jacmb! I can completely relate to how you are feeling. I am a 20 year old female and I have struggled with mental health problems all throughout high school and now university. I think most people around me would never guess because I come off as someone who is very put together, outgoing and happy. I guess part of me does that on purpose because where I am from everyone is really put together. I think that living a healthy life with a healthy routine really helps me a lot. When I have a whole day planned out I find that my mood is more positive than when I am at home doing nothing. Doing things gives me a chance to get out of my own head. I try to get 8-9 hours of sleep per day so I am not oversleeping or not sleeping enough because that effects my mood a lot. As soon as I wake up I meditate, look into mindfulness and the headspace app for more info, it helps me focus on myself and my thoughts and feelings for 10 mins a day. And then I do some yoga stretches before making breakfast. Making something myself makes me feel more accomplished then just grabbing something. Next if I don't work or have school, I like to sun tan or go for a walk or run errands. Then I make lunch and do a workout. Whether I go to the gym and weight train or do some body weight stuff in my room depends. Pinterest has great workouts to follow! Then I shower, check social media, do homework, go to therapy etc. then cook a healthy dinner. Then free time to do anything. Some days it's hard to stick to a routine but that's ok, just try again tomorrow! Feel free to msg me if you have more questions!
Hello everyone , I'm going to keep this short , I'm a 24 year old girl and am suffering with work related stress I just need some advice to help me cope xxx
talk to your parents about it, and then seek help to a doctor/psychiatrist. Because if you don t seek help now it will not become better it will go from little depression to major depression.
Hi, I am been dealing with severe depression for as long as I can remember. Everyday I feel like I ended up on the wrong planet. I can't function very well in this reality. The longest I have held a job has been 2 years, a record for me. I have developed a method of making it very difficult for others to know there is much wrong with me, except close friends and family. I find it is the only way to protect myself from the unnessary stress of having judgments and small mindedness hurled at me. I am a painter but I am only able to create when I feel good and so I haven't been painting lately. I have been throught the whole mental health system, hospitals, so many meds( which I am off of because they did not help), counsellors, psychiatrists. I decided to make my own treatment plan and it worked for 6 years, meditation, yoga, exercise and eating right, getting a lot of sleep. it worked for awhile and then the rug was pulled from under me and I am now facing a very dark place.
Because I have suffered for many years with depression I have some experience with what works and what doesn't for me. Whether it will work for you it is worth trying at least. Mediation or mindfulness work can be helpful. I don't like to give people an only way to meditate, there are many ways and you need to find the one that works for you. Give yourself 5-10mins a day and try it. You can use positive mantras, breathing techniques and many other methods to make up 5 minutes. I also recommend exercising everyday and eating well and regularly. I need to have a very strict living regime to stay healthy but it may give you your quality of life back. Try that out if you like.
Hi. I am a 17 year old female who has been depressed since I was 14. I have mostly kept this secret from my family and friends since I'm afraid of their reactions and the strong possibility of not being understood. I did tell my Mum earlier this year, but only to a certain extent - as far as she's aware: I'm fine right now. At my worst times, I will completely shut myself away in my bedroom as much as possible, not want to do anything, avoid talking to people and going outside, and I'd often think suicidal thoughts daily. I tried to spend the past couple of months outside more, but recently I just feel miserable whenever I leave my room. I've started locking myself away again. I want to get help, but I've always been too scared to tell people how I feel and what I'm really thinking. I feel like I really just need to talk to someone who's willing to listen and, more importantly, understands what it's like to have depression.
Feel free to send a message any time! I too suffer from the same issues & understand how lonely and unhappy it can make you feel
Thank you for the kind offer. I'm planning on talking to someone about it tomorrow, though hopefully I won't back out again. This past week has been super tough on me and I honestly just want to stop thinking and feeling this way by any means possible.
I do the same thing, my bedroom is like heaven to me. I dont have to worry about what others think or if i am doing anything wrong or if i am being too awkward.
Exactly. I know it's not particularly healthy, but being isolated in my room is just comforting. I went shopping yesterday and everything felt too... weird. Whenever I walked or stood still or looked at something, I felt like every movement I made was awkward and that the people around me could notice that. Just being in my own skin in public feels so uncomfortable.
I'm 17 and have an anxiety disorder. Sometimes it's hard for me to make friends in real life because I'm so shy. Words also tend to get stick in my throat so I often mess up my sentences which makes me even more self-conscious of my talking! Just need some new internet friends to talk too.
Send me a message whenever you need someone to talk too, i know it can be so hard to talk to people
Thank you 😊
& forgot to mention my lovely depression.
Hi, I am Gillian I am 14 years old. I have depression and anxiety, I have never really had friends because they think I am boring and too mature.
Um, Hello. I'm a 16 year old girl, and have been battling severe social anxiety and depression. It's made it very hard to make friends, resulting in me having none. Whenever people talk to me face to face, I panic and become tongue tied. I say whatever they want me to hear then run off and it's ruined my many opportunities at making friends. I try to be funny to cover up the fact I'm nervous and I make a fool out of myself. I've realized that I can't let this disorder get the better of me. I want to be a normal teenager...have friends. I shouldn't have to accept loneliness at sixteen. So...if I hadnt completely run you off, feel free to messagee..
