covering up my selfharm scars for gym class
Hey, so i have gym class every wednesday and friday and i just cut, Now. In gymclass we always need to wear shorts and tshirts, soo what to do?? ;-;
@JustAnotherCutter
hello. i'm very sorry that you found the need to cut, and i hope whatever issue/side of depression you're dealing with resolves itself soon! in the meantime, stay strong :) all the best!
i'm not very sure how you could cover them up -- i guess it all depends on where exactly you cut. i hope it gets better, though! i'm sorry i couldn't be of much help
@JustAnotherCutter I don't know whether this would be a possibility but your doctor may know of a service who specialise in using camoflage make up which is often used for those with burns and scars that individuals wish to cover up eg in summer months when wearing short sleeves. I know in the Uk the Red cross provide this service.
I am sorry that you are struggling with issues around self harm and wonder what support you have where you could talk with someone about this if this is something that you would like to do?
@JustAnotherCutter
I'm sorry to hear you have to cut to deal with the pain of life. I do the same thing too.
It really depends on where your cuts are.
If you're able to, you could wear a long sleeved t-shirt underneath your normal top, and say you're cold. If that doesn't work (it doesn't work for me in the summer months) you could put make up on them, or if they're old cuts, then drawing on top of them or slapping on some temporary tattoos always helps.
If they're on your wrists and they aren't too big, you can easily throw some hair ties or bracelets on top of them.
Hopefully these ideas help. Stay strong <3
@SakuraSkye These are some really good suggestions and I went through the same thing. @JustAnotherCutter For the shorts if they aren't long enough and depending on where you cut/what you're comfortable with, high socks or leggings also help cover up. the skintight but stretchy clothes help keep the cuts from reopening and the skin from tearing. I would say slightly loose bracelets for wrist cuts are good as hair ties can irritate them if the ties are too new or loose.
@justanothercutter its remarkable that your trying to go to the gym, it takes alot of guts. I know you dont want others to see what you're going through, but maybe by opening up to someone you trust can be a step towards healing. Have you heard of henna tattoos, maybe you could get some done after the scars have healed?
@JustAnotherCutter I am so sorry that you are feeling this way. I hope that you are able to move on past this and recover from self-harming. Depending on where you go to school, they might allow you to wear compression shirts and pants under your gym clothes. Also jackets might work, and track pants if you'are allowed.
Best of luck!
