This is something I have trouble admitting to people, even if they are supportive.

Of all of the symptoms of depression that I suffer from, i have the most shame around brushing my teeth. I haven't been. I sometimes get the energy to wipe them with a napkin, or use a flosser. but I struggle so much with brushing my teeth. I'm worried about the damage it will be causing. The last time i went for a cleaning, they were heavy handed with the cleaning tool, and it hurt a lot. I signalled them to stop, but they didn't see it. i was very distraught. I want to get my teeth professionally cleaned, like i used to every 6 months. but i'm to afraid of the pain.

sometimes i brush without toothpaste. or use mouthwash. but it's so hard.

Hi @affableStrings4654

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, we're all here to support you judgement free 💜

Hygiene is something that a lot of people with depressive tendancies struggle with, and it really isn't talked about. What you're dealing with makes a lot of sense.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling such difficult things lately, and I know this added stress about your oral hygiene isn't helping. I truly hope you get the support you need in this, both with your depression as a whole, and with your hygiene.

Sending warmth 💜🌿
