Can't think good things about myself

One piece of advice people like to give me is "Think good things about yourself! Tell yourself you're awesome!" etc etc. Recently I was at kind of a low point, and I tried to think something good about myself but.....I couldn't.

It was like my mind wouldn't believe the words I was trying to think. Even when I'm in a good mood, I have a hard time convincing myself I'm good at something, I'm awesome, so on and so forth.

Does this happen to others? Do you hit a mental block when trying to keep yourself optimistic?

I understand... Not being able to think good things about yourself is really normal (Well, I find it difficult, and from what I sort of see around me, it's normal). As humans, we're rather dependent on other people to tell use how we look, and just generally the physical things that are good about ourselves. Yes, there aresome people who may find it easier to find good things about themselves, while others sort of need their friends and those around them to tell them.

Like... Hmmm... I'm more inclined to believe the people around me telling me I look good, rather than myself or my mum (it's her job to do that), but psychologically, if you tell yourself something, over and over and over again. One day, you're going to believe it.

So next morning, when you look in that mirror, you tell yourself that you look wonderful, and that "today is going to be a good day" and continue to do that every day, you're guaranteed to feel better and happier about yourself :). If not that though, then it's picking out something you like about yourself that day like "wow, my smile looks great today"
