Hey there lovely humans of the internet! People around this site know me as Eno or NewRomantic677 or Marshmallow but you can call me whatever you want.. Maybe you've seen me around these forums, maybe you haven't. Either way I'm just happy you're here.

When I had depression, I got into the habit of writing letters to it, and it really did help me when I felt like I had to put my feelings out there. Now, this may not be for everyone, but personally i love writing and part of hte reason why i love these forums is because of the way they provide a platform for everyone to speak.

Anyways, the point of this thread is to serve as a way fo you guys to write your unwritten letters to Depression and just pour your hearts out. this is a safe place to do that, and we'll all be here for you So, I'll start with sharing a few of the things I've written to my Depression.

Dear Depression

Is that you? I'm still trying to figure it out. I've heard a lot about you and if you've decided to be with me for sometime I guess I won't stop it. Depression, I don't feel like i can even talk to my friends anymore, they don't understand me like you do, We may still be new acquaintances but I feel like you already know me inside out.

Dear Depression

all my smiles are starting to feel fake, is that supposed to happen? Is that what you want to do to me? are you the one teaching me how to mask my emotions when I'm around other people. But you become invisible around them, and it makes me uncomfortable in strange way.

Dear Depression

I think it's time for you to go... I'm tired of you following me around everywhere honestly. But if you want to stay, I won't usher you out, I don't want to be an impolite host. Depression, are you the one who's fueling the voice in my head, the one telling me to stay in bed and do nothing? I have duties, Depression. But my marks are slipping depression, and i met your friend Self Harm. did you tell her to meet me? I'm not eating as much as I should, Depression. I'm not happy anymore. Can you please, please, leave? I know it's impolite to ask you but you're making me doubt myself and it's not healthy. Please.

Dear Depression

It's my birth month and now I really think you should leave. I cant eve pick up the phone when you're around, and time waits fr no one. Depression, why are you making me hate my scars? what have I done to you, Depression? I can't even look at my boyfriend of friends in the eyes without lying and faking a laugh or a smile.. Depression, is it you that's making me hate myself? is it you that making me someone else? Please, Depression, we should part ways now. It'd be best for the both of us. I think you should go, I hate to tell you this but i don't want you here anymore. Leave, depression. just go away.

September, 2015.

Dear Depression

now that you're gone I'm a lot better. thank you for showing me that the world is so much bigger than you are. It's filled with LVE. Now i don't have to fake a single smile or force a single laugh, and I'm so happy now depression. When you're gone, everything is clearer. I'm still scared of you, and on my bad days you come back to me, but you never stay anymore. You're gone for good now.

Dear depression

Why do you follow me around like this? Why can't I ever get any peace? Why have you been in my life ever since I could remember?

You make me feel crazy. You make me feel like no one will ever believe the way I feel. You make me believe that no one has ever loved me and no one ever will. You make me feel like I am all alone in the world and no one cares.

I pretend for you so no one will find out about you. I tell everyone I'm fine so they don't see how you hurt me. Sometimes I don't have the courage to share how I feel because you tell me that no one wants to hear it and no one cares enough to listen.

You tell me that I don't mean anything. You tell me that I won't amount to anything. You want me to suffer and you want me in pain. But I'm still living, I won't let you take that away from me.

Dear depression. I'm sick, I already know that. Don't rub it in. You made me skip my best friend's birthday party because I hated my body. You made me push all those good people away. You made me pull all those bad people here. You made my mom hate me. You made me hate my mom. You ruin me. You ruin everyone. You're disgusting.

Dear Me. You're sick, and I'm sorry. I'm trying to help. I regret skipping her party, and I really want to love myself. I pushed all those good people away, but I didn't mean to. I pulled all those bad people to me, and I know I shouldn't have. I swear your mom loves you, I swear. And I swear you love her too. I know you do. You're not ruined. Not everyone will be this way. You're not disgusting...

Dear Depression,

I really miss the days when I was an innocent child, finger painting and building Leprechaun traps for fun. Riding on my friend's scooter and building snow forts in the winter. I miss the days when you were just an adjective. Not a condition.

You tell me I'm worthless. Dumb. Stupid. And it hurts me. You know it hurts me, not being able to smile at Christmas or laugh on my Birthday.

Which is why I'm breaking up with you. It's you. Not me.

Dear depression,

I'm living out my dreams in spite of you. I refuse to let you stop me. But you're slowing me down. You're leaching the sheer joy of my experiences and leaving none for me. You're making me question everything I've ever done and hope to do. 8 years is more than enough, I'm so so tired. Why me? I can't keep doing this.

Dear Depression,

thank you for coming, even if it was quite unexpected. We have love/hate relationships throughout the past couple of years, don't we? I refused to acknowledge you at first, but since that moment we have both grown up quite a bit. You have your flaws, but we all have those, so I decided to try to understand you for a change.

I know that you are scared sometimes. You feel overwhelmed with crowds and noise, deadlines makes you anxious, and you constantly look for external validation for your own existing. You often have problems with acknowledging emotions, so you become frustrated and lash out to innocent people who just want to support you. You hide away, instead of confronting the fears. You worry about the future and your loved ones, because you want the best for them. You try to be perfect and you often feel like failure, because it is impossible to achieve standards you set for yourself.

That's okay, lovely, I often feel the same way. But you also taught me some invaluable things.

Thanks to you I am taking better care for myself, sleep more regularly, drink water, and pay attention to my body and mind. I've learned how to be honest about my struggles which deepen my relationships. You showed me how to endure the pain and how to be brave in times of weaknesses. How to laugh when you are sobbing on the floor. How to curl up in your bed and wait for the night to pass. How to act, when you are heartbroken and so unmotivated you don't bother to take any more breaths. You helped me to seek out help and save myself from myself.

If you would like to leave me, I won't stop you, but I just wanted you to know that I don't think you are absolutely bad. I appreciate my life more and it's all thanks to you.

With love,

Celaeno

Dear depression.

When you came into my life you were small. Insignificant. You'd make me feel bad about myself and my life when no one else was around. When the lights went out, there you came. I tried so long to ignore you. I believed that if I didn't pay any attention to you you would just leave. But everyday you grew bigger. The thoughts, emotions and insults you gave me became worse. I didn't understand you. Why me? What did I do to deserve this? Will it ever stop?

For months I hid you away. I was determined not to let anyone know about your existence. But one day, you grew bigger than me. You took control over my thoughts, my feelings, my life. You gave me suicidal thoughts, made me feel worthless and told me I deserved this. I slowly lost the battle. I couldn't fight you on my own anymore. You had become too strong and I had grown too weak. So I opened up to my mother and told her about you. She didn't understand you but still tried to help in any way she could. She encouraged me to see a therapist. You resisted this and grew even bigger, screaming that you would never leave me. That I should just kill myself and be done with it. You had become such a huge part of who I am I didn't know who the real me was anymore. He was in there somewhere but I couldn't find him.

I am still fighting with you everyday. Over the past year you have grown so much to become the big angry monster that you are now. But I have grown too. With help from my psychologist, family and friends I have become stronger. And I am still becoming stronger every day.

Dear depression,

You may have won the battle, but I will win the war.

My "Dear Depression" letter would be brief and profanity laden...
