Before I start, please note that this may be triggering for some. I've spent a large part of my life trying to become someone that I am not due to the fact that I want to please everyone. I'm close to becoming 21 & every day as I get closer to that particular age I feel a sense of being unfulfilled. I feel like I have not created an identity for myself and I'm struggling to figure out who I am. I feel like I'm nobody, just someone who shape shifts into anything others want me to be and because of that my mental health has been strained. All I do most days are have small mental breakdowns & thoughts of disappearing. I feel weak, overwhelmed, sad. I'm not sure what to do at this point but I'm trying to take it one step at a time as thats the only thing that seems logical to me. I know this may seem jumbled but thats really how my brain is at the moment

Hi! First of all, please know that you are not alone. This is my first day here, and I don't have all the answers, but I wanted to reach out. Whenever I find myself losing my sense of self, I go back to what made me happy as a kid. For me it is sitting in a nest of blankets re-reading YA fiction (despite being in my 30s now, rereading offers a sense of comfort and it's like reconnecting with old friends). For some it might be dancing, drawing, singing, baking a favorite recipe, playing a video game, watching a movie, etc. These are the things that make you uniquely you. Change is inevitable and it is indeed exhausting trying to be a chameleon when you are really a person. I hope this helps.
