Depression at work; trying to cope
It's been a rought week for me. I'm starting to wonder why I went into a medical field. I used to enjoy my job. Now it's just numbing. I feel I'm just going through the motions. And the patients deserve better from me. My usual coping mechanisms work; but for some reason this week they didn't. I want to quit. But we are short staffed and it wouldn't be fair to my co-workers or the patients. So I keep on keeping on. When will it ever end? I wish I knew. Sigh, I'm so tired of it all. I needed to get this out of me. Hopefully, by getting this out of me here will help me cope a little better with my life. xandia![]()

Hi Xandia,
Thank you for reaching out and sharing with us. It sounds like you have had a hard time lately with your job, it must be very challenging. I would love to chat with you about your situation more and about your coping mechanisms. Hopefully getting things off your chest helped. Feel free to message me any time and we can work together and I can give you as much support as I can! Take care.
I'm in healthcare too. It can be really rough, especially when pressured by being short-staffed. Hang in there. We make a difference even when we don't feel great ourselves.

Hi Xandia,
It seems like you are having a challenging time on your work front. You feel stuck at your job and you can't seem to find a way to end this. Why don't you tell me more about your situation and the coping mechanism that you usually use? I am glad you shared this and it helped to get it out. I want you to know that this safe space is here for you whenever and wherever you need it. Feel free to message me any time and I will try my best to support you in any way I can! Take care.
I'm in healthcare too, I think it's short-staffed everywhere. The stress is on for myself and colleagues alike. Many nurses I work with are on their last string, continuously working overtime because there's just no one to cover the shifts. Even those who are on vacation are asked to work! Hang in there~
