Emptiness

Hello. I am a 43 year old female from Melbourne, Australia and I was diagnosed over 10 years ago. I have been on AD for the whole time and although I still have bouts of the 'blues' every few months, overall I am doing okay.

I think I would like to no longer be on this medication, I am not sure how I would deal with life without the tablets.

I am not a fan of taking unnecessary chemicals but scared at the same time to stand on my own 2 feet. The worst part of the way I feel is the sheer emptiness.

Hey there, I'm glad you are feeling better, you must be doing something right! I would suggest not making any changes to your medication regime before talking to a GP or psychiatrist. Some medications can give you nasty withdrawal symptoms so definitely slowly weaning off them is the way to go. The reason you are feeling ok may be due to a good balance with your medication so sticking with them might not be a bad idea.

I completely understand where you are coming from not want to be taking unnecessary medication but unfortunately some of us are wired a bit differently and need a bit of help to get the chemical balance in our brains right. Nothing wrong with that! All the best and take care of yourself :) xx
