Everything Feels Pointless

I feel like my life doesn't matter. I'm 22 years old and there's not a single person in my life that would be negatively impacted by my life ending.

My family barely speaks to me now anyway. All we do is fight. They don't agree with my life choices.

My boyfriend of three years loves me... I know that, but I make him so angry on a daily basis and I don't even try.

I literally don't have friends... I'm bad at relationships with people that I don't see everyday. I've moved away from my hometown 2 years ago and have since lost every friend I had.

I'm just so sad all the time... It just hurts so much every day just to wake up and live life. I hate feeling lonely or like an inconvenience.

Nothing makes me happy anymore... Well, I guess my boyfriend does... But he's literally the only thing I have in this world.

Most days I just want everything to end.. I hate feeling this way

@FPBagel I can understand a bit how you feel. I often feel like a burden. I'm 26, don't have a job, live with my grandparents. My anxiety has made it difficult for me to accomplish the things that I want to do. I only have one friend that I talk to on a semi-regular basis and my boyfriend, who lives several hours away.

Perhaps it would help for you to take up some hobbies that get you out of the house? It may help you to meet new people and make new friends. I know that life can be difficult enough on its own, and even worse when you factor in depression or anxiety, but as long as you're living, things can improve. Have you thought about seeing a therapist? It can be really helpful to discuss your feelings with a professional who can then offer coping methods and actions that you can take to improve your mental well-being.

Your life is meaningful and you deserve happiness. Don't let the negative voice in your head tell you otherwise. <3

@FPBagel

I understand you. People, usually, are only focused on their worries, and sometimes they are not so present to understand that everyone deserves to be happy.

Believe in your dreams! The meaning of live is to find your gift, your purpose, and illuminate the world around you through your gift.

Look for a service organization in your town. Your community may need volunteers and you will meet new people and find new friends while spending your time in building your social support. You will also feel a special fulfillment for being part of good projects.

We are not alone! heart

Hi there @FPBagel.

Thank you for reaching out to 7Cups. I'm sory to hear that you feel like your life doesn't matter, and that you feel like not a single person in your life would be negatively impacted by you ending your life. It sounds like you must be going through a lot to be having these thoughts. It also sounds like you're having some problems with your Family, and them not agreeing on your choices. Considering your age, I wouldn't be expecting you to not want to make your own choices - it's a part of growing up. It seems like your Family may not be fully aware about that. From what you've written in your post, it seems like it's been on your mind that you always end up making your Boyfriend mad, even when you don't try. How are some ways that you end up getting your Boyfriend to be mad at you? And how do you feel when your Boyfriend gets mad at you? It also sounds like ever since you moved away from your hometown two years ago, you've lost every Friend you had, and you feel like you don't have any Friends. As Humans, it's normal to want to have social interactions with other People. Do you think moving away from your Hometown has made it hard for you to find or make new Friends? I think we should also remember that you have a Boyfriend, whom even yourself said you know that he loves you, and you sounded for sure about that.

I think it's reasonable to understand that you can't maintain relationships for people who you don't see everyday. If you don't see the same people everyday, it must be hard to keep in touch with them, and have conversations with them. Maybe you may find it helpful to find more ways to reconnect, like getting their phone number and texting them once in a while when you have free time. Maybe even texting them to ask if they want to hang out, or grab a bite for lunch.

It sounds like you're feeling really lonely, and like you're also an inconvenience. What makes you think you're an inconvenience? It seems like you being lonely makes it hard for you to want to wake up, and dread living your life. You said your Boyfriend makes you happy, and from the way you phrased it - it seems like he's the closests thing to making you happy. Maybe you can try spending more time with him, while hanging around with others while he's nearby, so it may be easier for you to maintain relationships with people and make new friendships, as you'd be around someone you feel happy around, and maybe comfortable around.

Most importantly, please remember that your life matters. You have a boyfriend that loves you, and so much life ahead of you. Again, I think you're just feeling really lonely - and no one likes feeling lonely. I know I don't like feeling lonely myself. I hope things get better for you. And again, please don't hesitate to reach back out to 7Cups, we're here for you.
