Friend cancelled plans but still need her company today
My friend just cancelled plans that Im dressed and ready for! It felt the biggest kick in the teeth ever! But her son has bad eyes and her children dont want to go out.
So would it awful if I sent this message?
Right I have to sort out my kitchen because of measurements but If you fancy the company the company today Id happily come up to just sit there and be in your company and even help you clean or something since I have nothing else planned? Lol
now does that sound okay to send to her? Or does it look awful? I want to go up there, I need her company today because Im not brilliant, but I dont now how to say I want to come up without getting the biggest rejection ever and feeling worse than I am at the moment.
any ideas?
@TinkerCat28 It's hard to say. If her kids really don't want to go anywhere and it's an issue of not wanting to leave the house/they need to be close to home, then that's understandable. But she also be using her kids as an excuse because she's tired, she doesn't want any company right now, etc.
I don't think your message is over the top but I do think you should prepare yourself if she rejects this alternative.

Ah, calling off meetings. They sometimes disappoint me, too.
I think it's vital in any relationship to communicate what you need from the person and say that you respect their time "off".
Also, it's important to tell them how you feel (happy/sad/depressed/anxious/lonely/excited) and ask for whatever you need from them in this particular situation. At the same time, it's key to ensure them you're there for them as well.
If not a meeting this time, perhaps you could arrange a cauple of minutes for a call? Maybe that could give you some peace of mind. If you seek some more ways to cope. don't hesitate to look for a listener on 7cups.
Cancellations can be disappointing, but think of all the time you gain for self-care or hobbies, etc. !
