Grades and school are murdering me

I'm an A student. Ever since 3rd grade when we started getting grades, I have got A's. It is my claim to fame, the one thing about me that is good. I have a 4.667 GPA, it was all going great. And I just got an 82 (a C) in stupid American History. I feel like the one thing I lived for is gone, I'm never going to get accepted to a big name college like MIT with a effing C. Now I am mad that I didn't try harder, and I can't focus on my other classwork, I just want to give up and quit this all, its all pointless now.

I understand completely. For as long as I can remember, I've only gotten A's, something my parents always boasted about. Recently I've lost all motivation to do my homework, and my grades are suffering for it. But as my grades keep dropping, I'm not really feeling anything to try and get them back up again.

It's a crapshoot getting into MIT anyway, I had all-A grades in high school and SAT scores well above the MIT average and didn't get in. Do the work to learn and don't sweat the grade.
