Heartbreak is my biggest nightmare.
And I lived through my biggest fear. I went through a breakup with someone I would have forever. But we aren't completely broken up, just on a break. I was told "We'll figure this out. We just need time."
I want to make it through this and eventually have my partner back; making myself better for us. Any advice on how to stay happy and not only think about this?
I would definitely take some time for yourself in the meantime but keep the lines of communication open.
Find the things that make you happy. Often in a relationship we neglect our independence. Take a road trip to clear your head. Pick up an old favourite book. Dance, etc.
That is really great advice, @DevonGirl. I couldn't put it any better myself because you're bang on right there :)
Hey there @Stayingstrong0812,
Firstly, I understand having heartbreak be one of your biggest fears. Until I lived through it myself, it was also one of my biggest. Going through a heartbreak or even being on a break with someone you care deeply about is really hard because it causes fear of the unknown and uncertainty about the relationship.
But during this time, I would really encourage you to focus on yourself and spend some time doing activities you really enjoy or love. Spending time with friends and remembering things you enjoyed before the relationship can also be really helpful. One of the biggest things is to remember that you don't need this person to be happy. You can be strong and independant and brave. :)
If you ever need to talk, feel free to send me a PM. I understand how hard this can be. Stay strong! :)
