Help
Hi, Im just reaching out because Ive hit a point when Im just scared, tired, numb and desperate. I was diagnosed with depression after Ive lost a loved one and its my 3rd mental health condition. Im on prozac and sleeping pills at the moment.
Everyday, my thoughts juggle between how much I hate myself for being weak, for being unworthy of a good life, and for not appreciating the things that I have.
On paper I have a really good life, I graduated from college, I have a good job and I have a supportive group of friends. And I know I should be thankful, Im just not, because I cant.
So many challenges have been coming up in my life and whenever I try to take one step closer to recovery, something bad happens and I end up two steps back. Im starting to wonder whats the point of recovery if bad things are just going to keep happening. I want to recover, but I dont know how and I dont feel like I have the strength to.
How do you help yourself to manage your depression better? And any advice for insomnia and lack of energy to get anything done?
Thanks.
I'm sorry you're having such a bad time. We've all been there. When I experience fatigue and don't have the energy or want to do something, I usually force myself to go for a nice long walk, even though exercising sounds like it should be the worst idea ever if I'm that tired. But it usually gives me a boost in my mood and helps me get through the day. For insomnia I just try to encourage myself to have better sleep habits; not eating several hours before bed, turning off my lights, TV, or other electronics, and finally writing a journal entry in case my insomnia is being spurred on by anxiety.
I hope this helps you a little!
