How do I gain self worth?
For a very long time I have felt that I am not worth very much as a person. I have never achieved anything of importance or done anything to justify my existence. I feel like a waste of space. Some would say that these things don't determine my worth as a person, but then what does? I don't think that I am worthy just by existing, I am just wasting world's resources.
@CurWilliam To tell you the truth, the world is a conundrum full of contradiction. People offer you conflicting opinions that are often total opposites. If you care to take my advice, ignore all of the bullshit people think you need to hear. The purpose of living is to find true happiness. Maybe all you need is someone to hold or validation, but search for that fufilling thing you desire and nothing else matters.

Hi! I'm sorry you don't feel you're worth very much as a person. Let's just start with who you are. What are the things you're good at? What are some things you're proud of? It can be anything. Maybe you're good at video games. Maybe you can name every actor from every movie you've ever seen. Maybe you're an avid reader. There's a good chance that you're proud of something you know how to do well and that's a good feeling. And you could develop your interests, your hobbies, your talents into more- you could find meaning in them by learning what you're passionate about. You can even share those passions with other people with similar passions and build connections from skills you already have. Don't measure your worth by the things you haven't done, but instead, by the things you will set out to do. Take care :)
Don't make your worth depend on anything materialistic because at some point it's value is going to depreciate to being zero and so will your worth, with it. Your worth lies with you, on how you treat people and how you see yourself to be.
I've been depressed for 6 years now since 2011. I have been hating myself from the start until last year I learn much about meditation. There were sessions that we were guided to go back to the darkest moment of our lives, then come back to now and see ourselves in the mirror. That was really an emotional experience. Before I learn about meditation, I need to take antidepressants everyday or at least once 2-3 days. After I learn about meditation, now I just need to take the antidepressant for once a month. And I don't hate myself anymore. The place is also a really positive environment, surrounded by positive people who believe that we all are special in our own way. Maybe you should find one too. But if meditation doesn't work for you, that's okay. There must be another way that fits you. Even if you don't believe it, i do believe that there's a way for you. Keep shining you beautiful soul ❤
