How to alleviate depression

What strategies do others use to alleviate the weight of depression on the harder days? Typically for me, I manage to get through work, as a pediatric speech therapist, by getting through one client to the next just with less energy than usual and a bit more structured. I guess the routine and structure and expectations get me through. It's harder when I get home, decreased motivation to cook, workout, or be present with my boyfriend. What do you do to push depression aside to get on with the day?

Also what makes it harder for me is thinking how I don't have friends to reach out to about my depression, as I don't think they experience it to the degree I do, just more general sadness here and there. How do others deal with this?

I talk to my really closest friend who has been with me through thick and thin, and just like you, I also experience sadness, and don't have many people who I can talk to, but what gets me through is my daughter, cause if I talk to people about it, they would think I'm weird and crazy.

I used to have jobs and a routine, family and orderly life...

Routine in my case does not work...I cannot do anythong when I'm alone anymore, not even the most day to fay basic tasks (my depression is advanced...). It is not others doing things "for"me but jist being with me when I do them....

For example a simple thing is going for a walk...yet I cannnot do it alone, find no point in that...

Contradictory since I would like to be reclusive and live alone yet the tandem depression/loneliness is slowly degrading lethal and poisonous...

Sorry for writing when I have nothing to suggest for help, I wish others will give you useful tips that will fit your condition and that can work for you...best of luck🤗...

I had read this article on WebMD and wondered if any of these tactics have worked for anyone.

I am trying to set up a routine/schedule for myself and it includes small things like brushing my teeth, taking a shower etc. It helps me to have that focus, this includes things like meditating, writing in a journal, listening to inspirational material. And celebrating small sucesses or small steps no matter how small.
