I do not think that I will ever be able to comprehend how mean and cruel this world is . I just do not understand . I feel like I was born without this "protective coating " that everyone else seems to have . This .. Loneliness .. This pain .. Is just unbearable. :(

I'm so sorry to hear that! I can't imagine what you're going through, but you sound like a very courageous person. It never ceases to amaze me when people have the awareness to express their feelings and take time from self-care, even through their problems. I would love to be there for you if you ever need a listening ear.

Hey girl, I feel exactly the same! I never found the words to explain it, but you just exactly wrote down how I feel about theworld and myself. It really sucks to be sensitive and I'm missing that protectivecoat too :( My solution was to avoid mostpeople in my life and start focussing on hobbies, nature, music and art.. It sure is lonely, but at least nobody is able to hurt me this way..
Take care hug

Same here. I feel like I've been judged and criticized most of my life. I am in my forties, have never been married, and have no children, and live alone. This does minimize the drama and hurt immensely, but sometimes I wish I could be like other people. Then I just have to watch the news to see what "other people" are doing to each other, or how the latest celebrity has cracked mentally, or how much worse things could be, and then my life doesn't seem so unfortunate after all. We must live for ourselves and stop comparing ourselves. (Easier said than done--I know.) Personally, I feel that we didn't ask to be here (to my knowledge) and, therefore, don't owe the world anything except to stay alive and to try to find our own place here without doing any harm. As cassis said, find things to focus on that make you feel good. I love animals, and for a long time I felt that was unimportant because I should be loving people instead. Well, I can't love people, and there are a lot of animals who need love. Don't minimize your contributions. You do matter, whether you can relate to other humans or not.

Yes Cassis is right. Focus on things and people that make you feel good about your self.

Do things that will make you feel happy about yourself. Trust me it works.

I feel similarly. It's not that I can't get along with people, but I can't understand how they can tune things out - I just can't. It might help you to get involved with political activism - if you're unhappy with the world you see, try to make it better (If there's something different about us, I'd love to know what it is. There does seem to be a more sensitive personality type, I've sometimes thought). I love animals, having a pet can really help with loneliness.

It's only fair to say though, other people might also experience this kind of thing, more than you think. Feelings of alienation aren't so uncommon (especially if you're depressed). Sometimes what looks like apathy, is more due to feeling helpless to change anything.
