I have things I need to do, Depression please leave me to them
Dear Depression,
I understand you demand to be felt. I understand that you are there. I understand that you want to do everything together. I understand that you want me to be with you instead of my friends, family, and classmates. I know you hate it when I'm not with you.
I get it.
But I need to you leave me alone, for good. You have been costing me everything that means something to me. You are costing me my good standing in classes that I need to graduate this year. You are taking me away from my the people I love. You're taking opportunities away from me. Most importantly, you are taking me away from the life's work that I have to do.
I'm here to help others find their happiness. To give them a reason to smile. To inspire those who need a boost in all areas of life. I'm doing my best to do that every day.
Depression, you are interfering with that. You do taking that away from me. You are taking me away from the world. Depression, I understand you are always there, while I admit, you scare me as I'm still figuring you out, I will fight you with everything I have, which isn't much. Normally, i'm not a vengeful person, for I see no point in it. You Depression, I promise my revenge on you. I will not let you get away with all that you have done to me. I don't think of myself much, as I normally am saving others myself, but damn it, I am going to win this.
Depression, you make it so that I feel utterly unappreciated in places that I should feel appreciated. You make me run off from the people I care about and whom care about me. While, yes, I have no choice but to fight you alone, I will. I have too much to do and you are in the way. I have given you more than enough time to get out, and haven't taken the opportunities. Now, I will no longer be nice. Depression, you will face my wrath, so either run or go down by my hands, I don't care which anymore.
I will no longer tolerate you leeching my life away from me. I will no longer tolerate the loneliness you make me feel. I will no longer tolerate the blows you throw at me. I will no longer tolerate the fact you take my energy away from me. I will no longer tolerate you, period.
One late time Depression:
GET. OUT.
Never was yours,
AutumnEagle
@AutumnEagle Thank you for writing this. You're a prolific writer clearly, and these words that you've poured out inspire me. It's immensely relatable, since depression was a primary hindrance to most things I wanted to indulge in or try out or achieve.
It's so brave of you to put your thoughts and emotions into words like this, and that too on a public forum- I truly admire that. I am also monumentally proud of the fact that you've chosen to fight it valiantly, and truly, you're winning the battle! But remember, while the battle is definitely yours, you always have comrades here that you can open up to~ We're all backing you on this one. Stay strong, Stay you. ❤️
Thank you. I don't know what else to say. It's been a huge stuggle for me. I don't know much else I can do, but i know running away isn't going to do me, or anyone else any good. You're very much welcome. I'm hoping for the best. I'm just so used to fighting my own battles alone because i had to for so long. The idea that I'm not alone scares me itself.
Again, thank you. I don't know if i consider my post brave, but i figure someone else could use it to help them.
I never looked at depression that way, but it is so true! I feel like I'm drowning in my depression and just don't know how or where to get the strength to fight my way out. It's a very lonely battle which makes it all the more difficult.
@AutumnEagle, can I sign under your petition? Maybe if we gather enough signatures depression will simply disappear from the world and then we could live the life we fully deserve?
Well, until this dream will come true, let me just thank you for your bold statement. You are a fierce warrior, and I know you will prevail and be victorious in your fight - I just feel it right down to these stubby bowlegs of mine (x) ^^
If I may suggest one thing, it'd be to advice you to write more. I can sense that your depression is afraid of your mighty words and maybe, just maybe you can keep at bay by using them. Language is powerful and you are granted with this flair. You can locked your demons in clear, firm structures of letters and build yourself a freedom. It just a thought ^^;
Lots of love, lovely!
