I'm feeling helpless
I just joined college and don't know why it's giving me depression and anxiety. It's been a month. At first i thought it was because i didn't have any friends yet. But I've made some friends, though I can't really bring myself to think of them as friends.
I don't like the people or the environment of my college. Every day I cry my eyes out and then make myself go to college even though I don't want to. I just feel so helpless.
Hey there, @NeonPeachxxx
I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing a lot of depression and anxiety after joining college. The transition to college can be a really tough moment in our lives. It can be tough to adjust to a new environnement and people around us. It's definitely a very different experience, your feelings are all valid!

I don't know how helpful what I'm about to say is going to be. I hope it does.
I felt the same way in college. I went from class to my room for a few weeks before I even tried to make friends. I eventually overcame that hurdle, however I never did make the emotional transition. I let depression and anxiety snowball and I ended up failing out of school.
I share this for two reasons.
1. My failure was far from innevitable I could have gotten help. So can you.
2. You are by far not the first person to feel the way that you do. Your feelings are valid and appropriate to the situation.
Some suggestions:
Have a heart to heart with some of your new friends. Maybe they feel like you.
Join a fun club or group even if you don't feel like you have the time. You will be happier having a part of your day set aside for fun.
Don't forget to exercise. Your brain collapses with your body.
Get off the damn campus (but by no means go home). You're an adult. Have fun like an adult. Explore on your own time. Experience food and architecture that isn't institutional...
Hit those books like it's your job. Studying sucks but work also sucks. However work is regular and it ends. If you study regularly then you don't have to do that stressful cramming thing.
Don't worry about how well everyone else is doing. We tend to focus on the best in the class. Remember that the best had a lot of help getting to where they are.
Speaking of help, use tutors! Bug your tutors and professors until they are crying from the stress just like you are.
Go to a party if that's your thing. Even if it isn't, you might like it anyway.
Did I forget anything?
Oh yeah. You're a good person, Peach. Your folks still love you and your old friends. I met my best friend in college. If you do then her or she will too.
:)
