Irritability

For the past three weeks Ive become extremely irritable and Im having a lot of difficulty sleeping. The last time things were bad for me, it started with the irritability. I dont want to panic and start any medication or any other extra ‘treatments because it might not be a depressive episode. Its only been a few weeks so maybe I should just wait it out and see. But if I am going through a bad patch mentally then I want to recognise it and go about the necessary steps as soon as possible before it gets worse.

Ive also been intentionally isolating myself because of my anger. Im horrible company at the minute and its better I steer clear of people so I dont lash out. But isolating myself obviously isnt healthy or helpful. But being around people makes me extremely anxious too at the minute.

Ive dealt with periods of depression to know if its coming and it just feels like all I can do it stand and watch as it happens. I go to therapy, I exercise, I do all the right things and yet it always comes back. Im angry and exhausted and Im just hoping this is a weird few weeks and it all disappears.

@B0nnibel What did your therapist tell you? Did he/she recommended something? I would also like to know how to prevent or at least minimize the depressive episode, so if anyone has any experience or advice, please share it

@Beginagain31

ive not brought it up with them yet but it feels unavoidable now and Ill probably discuss it in my next session.

Keeping busy helps and having a routine. Socialising (even when you dont want to) can be a great distraction too.

@B0nnibel I feel worst in the morning and it takes me long time to calm down. Evenings are much better for me cause I kind of let go of my feelings. Socialising is good but it feels overwhelming sometimes cause I can't even answer questions my friends are asking me.

@Beginagain31

yeah I find thats the case for me too. But Im holding on to the irritability because its better feeling angry than not feeling anything at all. But thats how it feels in the evening for me at least.

I'm exactly the same. I find it difficult to respond because I just dont have anything to say. Or I find it difficult to think of a response and have the words come out and then by the time Ive thought of what Ive wanted to say its too late. Also I just feel really insecure and intimidated by socialising in a group. Sometimes it feels like its too much energy to even talk. Im already a quiet person as well so this bad patch doesnt really look any different to how I usually am.

I wish I could suggest something to help
