Living with a severly depressed husband
My husband has been severly depressed for the last 2 years. He just keeps getting worse. I am feeling that I have no hope any longer. I am now depressed myself. I feel like I'm dying inside.
The only way I find any relief is by telling myself that I deserve this. That i am a bad person. That this is what I get for being who i am so to just live with it.
Samantha, you do not deserve this, no one deserves depression anymore than they deserve cancer or heart disease. Depression is an illness, like any other and there is treatment for it. Encourage your husband to seek treatment if you can and perhaps he will decide to do so when he is ready. Or you may have to force him to do so because unfortunately part of depression involves not wanting to do anything.
I think the fact that you reached out to us means that you have a little bit of hope that things can change for the better. I would strongly encourage you to chat with a listener, or several listeners, whenever you are ready. I am here on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights form 10 pm to midnight, EDT and would be happy to chat with you.
My husband sees a therapist and is already on medication. He has tried all kinds of antidepressants and his current one seems to help a little. There has been talk of electric shock therapy. He sleeps about 20 hrs per day. We've been married for 35 years. I am so sad. Our relationship has just disappeared. I will contact you to chat. I'm on Pacific Time. Do you know the time difference?
Hi Samantha, There's a 3 hour time difference, so 10 pm to midnight EDT is 7 pm to 9 pm Pacific. I'd be happy to chat with you tonight or tomorrow night.

Dear Samantha,
dont belittle yourself. Your hubby needs special attention now.. you are his only hope and support, the vows you guys took during your marriage? what if it was you in his place? we wont talk about who's wrong and who's not. It wasn't anyone's fault to begin with. It's all a test, it's destiny ...what if you were in the state your hubby is in? try to let your hubby participate in events on his interests an try doing everything that pleases him, try to please yourself too...try to always make him relieve of his distress and try to find the causes of his behaviour....not forgetting ur significane in this struggle.
tkcar luv xoxo
Dear friend. I would be glad to talk :-). Tk cr. Hugs. Sam.
