Making an emotional connection

I'm finally taking charge of my life and attempting to find the light to guide me out of my depressive slump. Through my reading of Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Kafka, Chekhov, Rousseau, I feel I now have a pretty broad perspective of life and could identify my own emotional distress and go start going about resolving them. That said, I feel weak from all these years of depression and would like strength and guidance from another person who could understand and empathize with my emotions. It seems hard to find such an emotional connection and I realized that pouring my heart out to listeners just doesn't seem to be working... I've started a therapy session but the therapist hasn't replied yet and who knows if she could see from my POV. I need strength and guidance, it's a pity religion isn't something I could lean on since I haven't been exposed to it.

@fancifulHand65

This is great that you want to receive guidance. I also am starting therapy in a few days because I have been stuck in the depression slump. I might need to look into some of these people's works that you mentioned. I've just been so unmotivated lately. I feel like I can't function some times. I hope you find the support you need!

Ive experienced depression myself and have been told Im empathetic. We all need a listening ear sometimes; happy to help if I can.

I'm sure you will find someone who you can connect with sooner or later, happens when you least expect it (in my experience).
