Mental Hospital? Now?
I feel really depressed and sad and don't know what to do about my life. I don't even think I wanna be alive. I feel like I can't go out bc I'm scared that I can't control myself and that I will jump out in front of a bus or a train or a car or a truck or something like that.
I have a hard time telling my parents how I feel (I'm 22 but I live with them, so I have to include them), but I feel like I should call the mental hospitals acute department and ask to get hospitalized. But I'm scared to call them alone, and I have to get my parents to drive me there, and I just CAN'T tell my parents that I feel bad, bc I don't wanna make them sad :(
What do I do?
@EvilRegalsReadToo Hospital is an option, it's true, and in hospital you'd be safe from harming yourself. But there's nothing special a hospital can do to make your life better, and as you say it would involve your parents.
In many places there are other immediate options available to you. There might be a local suicide helpline you can call to talk to someone right now. There might be a warmline you can call, either now or sometime soon. You can easily Google these services to find local contact information.
Less immediate options include getting help from your doctor, or going directly to a therapist who specializes in treating depression, although again, your parents would possibly have to be involved.
Here at 7 Cups you can discuss the deeper issue of what to do about your life with any listener (but we cannot discuss ending your life). If you'd ever like to chat to me, just click on my profile and message me.
