Movement for depression

You don't need a workout. You need a twitch.
Stand up. Open a window. Walk to your gate and back.
The goal isn't fitness. The goal is proving your body still listens to you.

@nicepeople22I absolutely agree. Because our goal isn't to get a six-pack on the first day. We just need to develop a habit, which can be achieved with a little exercise or walking.

Depression feels we have like lost control over mind and body, it feels as if this is unknown feeling which is not exactly sadness, but mainly is overpowering us in all manners, seeping in deeper and deeper day by day......but just doing one little bit everyday....can feel like an enormous win and eventually compound to bigger change.

I agree with you. Take really slow steps, observe each footstep, listen to every breath, and feel every vibration of your body. That is incredibly helpful for our physical and mental well-being

Absolutely true

Workouts do not heal depression.

Music helps, and whatever makes you depressed must be addressed.

This actually helps a lot. You just need to break the cycle. You don't have to immediately begin a new cycle. Just being able to stop and recalibrate helps a lot. Just a change of scenery or environment. It can jump-start the change you wish to embody.

@nicepeople22 Our emotions are very closely tied up with movement, we release negative feelings when we do physical exercise, you do not need 45 minutes of cardio, sometimes a simple walk or a breathing exercise can be just the right thing. Remember to take care of yourself and your body!

At times it can be intimidating to convince yourself that progress starts with a big and scary jump, but the truth is the small steps are crucial and can be far more sustainable! Progress takes time, and any amount of improvement is an achievement to be celebrated. Thank you for these encouraging words!

Each person has their own way to deal with stuff. You are absolutly right, where standing op and opening a window can feel like a porta and a relief. Even looking at the sky or just listening to birds is a milestone for someone.
