New here and nervous
I've suspected I have depression for many years now. On the outside I'm the "funny, reliable, level headed" person. On the inside, I'm usually crying and really beating myself up. I'm nervous to go to a counselor. I don't believe seeking help is in any way a weakness but it feels like if I do, I'm failing. Kind of like I'm letting people down
I feel you ! I can relate .. i think that talking about how we feel .. that itself is a big step ! To acknowledge how you feel matters.. I just want you to know that doing something which is good for your own self is a good decision! You won't let other people down because of it .. don't worry about others :) People who really love you will understand !
Thank you! I know that reaching out isn't a weakness but it's still hard. Just posting on here was hard for me since I'm always in my own head and saying things to myself that aren't great. Seeing your reply made me feel more empowered, as simple as that may seem.
I am happy that it made you feel a bit better :)
Oh there is nothing wrong with going to seek help. I’m pretty sure the people that you feel you might be letting down would love to hear that you are better on the inside because no one wants to see anyone suffering. Getting help Is definitely a good first step but I’m super proud of you because you are really trying to get to bottom of this!!
It makes me feel better knowing there are others out there that feel the same way I do. It means I'm not alone and less of an outcast. Letting others know what you're going through; did you ever think you might be helping someone else by letting others know?

l'm sorry you're having a hard time. You are not failing, you are fighting. You are struggling and that's okay, but it sounds like you're willing to reach out, you already have by making this post. Talking to a counselor is a great idea. And your loved ones might actually appreciate it because taking care of yourself allows you to be there for others. You are not alone❤️
