New ways of dealing with depression. I'm also ADHD
Hiya, I've been suffering from a severe depression, the fact of which I was hiding even from myself. The problem is that I fell down on stairs a few years ago and have been having back and neck pains and vision problems every single day with different strength since then. I've been getting physiofor a while and managed to improve condition greatly but still wake up every day with a different ability to see people and things around me, and my body hurts all the time. I think it's only now I've come to realisehow depressed I really am. So I've been looking for my new way to my fight cure. As I am also ADHD, I always need something new to try. Unfortunately, I have a limited ability to move physically which is really killing me and I get frustrated and aggressive. So I've come up with a new exciting thing - mind controlled videos. The idea is that you control the storyline by controlling your emotions. Got excited about trying it out to change something in my half disabled life and bought a few video apps to see how it goes. For now engaging, so bought a special app for depression fight. Will post my feedback later on.
How do you find your ways to fight depression? especially if you have ADHD cognition type?
Welcome, Yellow! Thanks for sharing your story today. :) Always humbling to see someone coming here and courageously exposing a glimpse of their life to us.
First off, I am very sorry for the struggles you're facing. :( That must be no easy task, but the fact you're hear is a strength in itself because you realize there is something not right and you're addressing it. For that, I applaud you. :)
Your tactic is a good one. I would ask, do you put instrumental music on? (Not classical, but anything instrumental) Because listening to music with no words allows us to develop our own "lyrics" and allows our minds to dwell into a deep state where we control the story and outcome. It's a good method because you're able to identify what you want in life, and once you realize this, you're able to adequately start planning on how you should go about it.
But, my real question is Yellow, have you opened up to anyone around you with the story you have just shared with us?
I hope to hear from you soon. :)
Hi Ejj,
Thanks for support :) well, I love music in general, and instrumental as well. The problem is that I am a dancer by my past and my nature, so any time I hear any music I like, I just start to dance as it helps me to get rid of all pressure and stress and to express myself. It was a problem this time as my doctor told me not to do any physical exercises at all until next Friday session to wait until the nerves inflammation goes down.
Instead, I concentrated on doing oil painting. God, I guess my painting is the only one where the Chinese Wall goes through their colourful mountains... Well, at least my soul feels satisfied lol.
I also tried anopen eyes meditation with my laptop. It's quite different from the close eyes meditation you know. I relaxed and was watching the weather improving, grass growing and flowers blooming the more relaxed I got...
So the weekend was quite spiritual and peaceful. For some time I even forgot I had pain all over my back
Hope your weekend was great too
As for sharing with someone close, frankly, it took me a lot of time to admit the fact of having a depression by myself. I was just avoiding recognisingit. I continued living my life and had moments of being expressively down very seldom. I think it had been hidden from me for a while, so I had nothing to share.
And now, once I see it's going off me, I'm working on getting back to life slowly. I did tell my friends, but I said I've had a heavy one and now I'm feeling much better. Well, that's how it actually is for me
