No escape from reality, A denial

Am I in denial if I know I have a problem but just dont wanna think about it? I try not to think about my life going down the drain by replacing it with movies, tv, internet, music. But eventually it catches up with me. I feel guilty about being happy. I dont deserve it. I know my thoughts dont make much sense, I'm just soo conflicted.

Zeek,

Don't ever feel like you don't deserve happiness in life, because we all do. I know how it feels to not want to think about the negatives in life and where our lives are headed, but sometimes it is necessary. We can always change something if we don?t like it, as long as we try! Trust me, I know where your head lies in regards to this entire situation, and if you ever need someone to speak to, I will be here for you. There?s a really nice quote that relates to this situation:

?If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. ? ?Anthony Robbins.

Sending lots of love and very big hugs your way!<3

Thanks a lot for the reply. I hope that everything sorts itself out eventually. It feels really assuring to know that someone else knows the feeling I'm going through. I'd love to talk to you.

I do that too. Whenever I encounter a problem, I'll first drownmyself in something else (be it movies or music) to help me forget about the issue at hand because I'm simplyoverwhelmed. I knew Icouldn't function correctly. I knew I couldn't act correctly, so I simply let it sit for a while. After a while, I'll get numb enough to face the problem. For some people, this may be called"denial"or "escaping."But for me, this is called"I know what I'm made of and I know what I can and cannot do."

Zeek, everyone deserves happiness and you deserve. The way you cope may not necessarily be helpful. Just as Pandette says in her the quote she listed you have to change what your doing to get different results. I realized that too. When my depression is iscoming on I tend to isolate, immediately change my clothes when I get home to eat and slouch on the couch, then yell and complain when I get home. I noticed it when my kids say everytime you come home your mad, so I don't want tosay anything to you.Right there is when I noticed I need to change and get help for my depression. I don't ever want to affect my kids like that and nor do I wantto feel like that for myself. So, I changed that... I come home and make it a point to speak nicely to my kids not matter what they may bedoing or have done wrong,Idon't change my clothes until laterand I make a reason to go back outside whether its to walk around, clean the yard, be nosey, or check the mail... the sunshine, fresh air and scent of yard water enlightens me... I hope these suggestions help buthelpful reminders like post notes with uplifting words, positive smiley things in my car, and scents that I love or make me smile.

Wow. Your post actually made me smile. When I'm really feeling down, I usually go out for a run. Running makes me feel like I can fly :) I hope I eventually find to confront my fears. One of my biggest fear is, ironically enough, confrontation.

@zeek, you say you like running? I do also. I think it has helped me from going down any farther than i have. Do you run in races? I started running 3 years ago to help me lose a little weight. I started out with 5k races , then i decided to see if i could complete a 10k race, i ran a few of those, then i really got brave and started training to see if i could complete a half marathon. You know what? After completing my third half marathon and signed up for my fourth early next year, im planning on trying 26.2 at the end of next year. Its crazy but i think i can do it. I dont know if you like running that much. I know i didnt but i do now. It makes you feel better and takes up time where you might be thinking about negative things otherwise. You know another good thing? I have lost 55 lbs. since running. Leave the negative stuff behind and focus on positive things.

@whyme11 I've just recently started running in races. I love it. Sometimes I actually feel like Forrest Gump. The mostly run those 5k races but I'm might eventually start running 10k as well . Although it will take time, I'm sure I might even run a half marathon eventually. Btw I wish you all the luck for your marathon. Also thank you so much for sharing. Keep running :)

This is a common problem , and I'm sure everyone in some stage of their lives feels like this , so your not alone. But what one can do is accept it and move on, there is no point dwelling on something that you cannot change. But the best thing one can do is confront it and try to overcome it. What are you going to achieve by placing it at the back of your mind when it slowly catches up with you, right? Sometimes looking at things from a different perspective, makes you see the situation in a different light. There's no point fighting with the issue , this will make you feel down but remember "where there is a will , there's a way " , so if your determined enough to find a solution however hard it maybe, with your true strength and willpower nothing can stop you. Lastly don't feel upset, thou are equally deserving of happiness and remember I'm here if you want to talk :) !!!

@Sabah123 In all honesty, its not that I dont wanna confront my problems. Its just that I dont think I have it in me to survive what happens after. I just want things to be as they are. Is it too much to ask for?

No I completely understand , I'm here to listen so do connect with me ( sabah123). So I can help further . I know what you mean sometimes because you don't know the outcome , you don't want to reach that stage of a situation. Obviously you can only make the best decision about a issue or problem you face because your experiencing and who knows better than the one person experiencing, right ? But sometimes if you come to that point and acknowledge the aftermath , it can help you completely resolve the problem .

im here to listen and help so please do connect if you would like

wish you the best sweetie :)
