One thing I feel sad about right now is....
myy Friend
Been asking my family to visit our old camp (a place of many fond childhood memories) for the last couple of years, without success. I am moving out this summer, going away with the foolish hope that my family will understand and the expectation of being cut off. Mother called me yesterday to tell me that we'd be visiting the camp this summer...about a week after I plan on being moved out. I had come to terms with not seeing the place or the people again, but it stings that the trip should have been brought up now, and that I should have just missed it... I loved it so much. It was home when my house never felt like a home, and the family always gather there to see each other. I've written about it so much, though, and remember it so well, I don't believe it's ever really lost to me (: as much as it hurts now, to know that everyone will be driving up there without me.
@indigoJet762 is there anyway they can change the date? Do they realize how much it means to you?
@Purplebead I go school away from home, so that's quite impossible. And I haven't been able to sway them to take me these past years, so I don't think I could change their minds now.
They don't know - can't know - that I plan on moving out. It's just impossible to gauge their reactions about these things. Like so many other situations, this may have been avoided if communication could be happening where it should be...but alas!
@indigoJet762 I just want to say that sometimes dysfunctional family members lack the capacity to love or care about us the way we need them to. This is something you may need to come to terms with about your own family. Sometimes this happens if they have grown up in an abusive or dysfunctional family themselves. The sooner you forgive them for not loving you in the way you need and accepting that they will most likely never change (unless they become enlightened about your feelings and decide to change), the sooner you will be able to feel peace and be able to fill that need with other healthy things in your own life. I realize that that is a hard thing to reconcile, it honestly took me years (hoping to share this so that it helps you realize this faster, to bring you peace) :) Therapy might help you work through this also. I went to alot of therapy because it was very difficult for me to accept that my parents/ family lacked the emotional/psychological capacity to care for/love me the way I needed them to. I may be projecting here somewhat, I just happened to notice alot of similarities between your family and mine. Also, your real family may not be able to meet these kind of needs for you, but that doesn't mean that other people can't. I have found in my own life that my significant other and friends have become my family and could love me in more ways that I really needed, than my family ever could. I hope this helps and I wish you the best ❤
@impartialCar5809 I appreciate you reaching out! I have kind of come to terms with my family. I must appreciate that they believe what they do is best for me, but it's been mostly extremely debilitating. I'm going away, and I hope that, once/if they get over it, the distance eases the tension in our relationship.
Thank you for the kind words and advice. I'm glad you've made a life which suits you better, and I believe I'll make one for myself in these coming days! (:
Incapable of being a good mother, it seems like I am failing at everything, and all the other parents seem to be doing just fine
@Purplebead I'm not a mother, but I'm someone's child. I think a good mother loves her children, and she does what she can for them... Every parent I know has this anxiety about whether they're doing enough for their kids, and every little failure makes them question themselves (: My mother has her own faults, but at day's end I see the loving intentions behind her actions. In the end, your children know their mother, and they value the love you've offered them above any of your shortcomings - just as a mother does her children! (:
I was upset that my grandmother scoffed & put her nose up at my tattoes. I tried to kindly explain they make me happy, Ive earned them. She's getting older & not as fun to be around.
Lost and confused about my path. I don't know what I want to do. Nothing motivates me and I am in constant conflict with my inner self. My emotions are conflicting; so are my thoughts. I over think and my relationships with people are extreme - either too close that I talk too much and annoy or not talk at all. I haven't accomplished anything yet. Nor sure if I ever will although I've lived this dream a thousand times in my fantasy. FantasisinG has become a routine. It is an escape from the stress and commotion around me. I'm always lost. Always absent minded. I don't know what to talk or how to with people (be it closed ones or strangers). Don't even do any household chores myself and never helped my parents. Never made them extremelyproud (about anything).
Sincerely
A shy person who will not stop talking and annoy you once you're close.
@fearlessCake8608 I know how you feel. I'm not content with my life but just... going with the flow. I have moved out of my parents' house and staying with a relative so I'm sort of independent, I'm working and going back to school soon, but I feel like I haven't fulfilled anything. I feel... so empty.
Is that he has'nt called or texted me after sending me that leading text of hope yesterday
Not having the finances to get engaged and married or buy a home anytime soon
Being in love and not knowing if the other person feels it too
My partner refuses to pay child support and now I'm broke with three disconnect notices and I'm afraid we will lose our apartment.
The amount of sadness chaos destruction and death I've caused. When I met some people they're depression suddenly got worse and that's how 8 lost the closest friends I've ever had to suicide and it's all my fault. Everywhere I go I cause chaos I'm just useless
