Reminiscing about simpler times

As a child the world seemed so big, the days seemed spent with friends and family seemed happier, and the choices were endlesss. But now growing older and older those days of childlike wonder and joy are fading away.

Friends and family members that I have grown up with have moved on and are now busy with their own work/school some of which even have their own kids now. That bright future is now bleak and with the knowledge that the world is slowly getting worse with very few signs of it becoming better, and those endless choices are now limited and the walls are closing the longer I wait.

@Ezmel222 , As I read your post, I can understand the sense of loss and how these loss causes a certain amount of helplessness . Just watching the changes around us, not able to stop or control these changes hence just floating on the sea of changes with or without our permission. But , Change will happen as that is the law of nature. This is one of the quote that helped me to adjust my viewpoint and sort of keeps me ground. I like to share it with you.

@Ezmel222

I remember of times when I didn't have to worry so much about finances and career goals. My life during those moments were simple and I was happy, but many things change due to various reasons. People change, the environment around us change, and therefore, life itself can change. Life will be filled with struggles, and life will also be filled with happiness too. I believe that it's how you choose to react to those moments that shape you into who you want to be. The past is a part of what makes us who we are today, but they don't have to define who we are going to be (or want to be) in the future.

I agree. I think it's part of getting older and part how the world has grown so disconnected.
