So you’re feeling functional…
What do you do to stay on track? I recently got diagnosed and started medication (therapy starts this week). Any tips for how to best stay on a good track with depression? I’ve apparently been suffering from it my entire life, and am trying to find positive frameworks to help not relapse as much as possible. Thanks!

Hi!
That's great that you've started medication and are beginning therapy. Therapy can be really helpful in learning how to manage and cope with depression. I think finding positive frameworks is a great idea.
One thing you might want to try is mindfulness. Mindfulness is all about being present in the moment and accepting your thoughts and feelings without judgment. There are lots of different ways to practice mindfulness, like meditation or yoga.
You will find audio guides for mindfulness and other positive practices in this section of 7 Cups: https://www.7cups.com/exercises/mindfulness/
There is also a Mindfulness Community in 7 Cups that is really great for helping you with this. It has a lot of resources and its leaders and members provide wise guidance. You will find it here: https://www.7cups.com/home/mindfulness/
I think it's also important to try to take care of yourself physically as well as mentally. Eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and staying active can all help to boost your mood and make you feel better overall.
All the best!
Marcelo
You are doing all of the right things already. I would also:
a) Keep coming here to vent as often as you need
b) Don't beat yourself up when you have a bad day or feel as though you have failed
c) Give yourself lots of time for distractions and welcome those moments as healing.

Thank you both! Very helpful.
How are you doing today? @rationalCoconut2576
I’m getting to this late - sorry! I am doing really well today (although you asked yesterday). I got out for a run with our dog for the first time in over a month, and that felt really good. I hope I can get back into a routine soon…but consistency has been a challenge.
Never worry about when you respond. I only get to 7 Cups once a day myself. Great job getting out with the dog. I know that getting outside for me is a lifesaver. @rationalCoconut2576
