Suicidal parent
I have struggled on and off with depression, self harm, and suicidal thoughts all my life but now it's even more crippling as I'm the mother of a two year old. I want to finally ask for help but I'm terrified that my baby will be taken away from me or I'll have to stay in the hospital for days or even weeks. She would be devastated. We don't have very close family. I'm all she really has. What would happen to her? I often wish I had just done it when I had the chance to. I can't bear the thought of even harming myself anymore. I don't want to have to explain more scars to her. I don't know what to do anymore.
Hey Emily0520. I can understand what you are going thought at the moment. I am not going to say i know how to stop these feeling and thoughts. but i can still try to help you if i can. whatever i will say you may have alright tried it. when u feel thoughts of self harm. thinking of your child. what she will go through without you. she is your strength. your hope and your willingness to not give up. and when you are having those thoughts. try freezing your body. i mean if you sitting down . freeze your body but your head will be struggling. you dont. move. i hope you feel better. sorry for what you are going through.
Where do you live, Emily? I'm in the UK, and there are support services for people who are having problems I think the fact that you are willing to get help is admirable, and your reasons prove you're a good mum.. Please do try and take that first step, and look after yourself properly. X
Hi Emily. I'm 27 years old and my mother committed suicide July 5th this year. In her situation I am not mad, I am not confused, I am not alone, and I am not going to repeat her actions. She was 45 years old, she was diagnosed at 42 with Primary Progressive MS..along with debilitating symptoms, drinking, and not actively seeking medical attention..she wanted to end her life and I don't blame her...if you feel like answering what makes you want to take your own life? You already think and care about the future well being of your daughter, regardless of temporary placement of your daughter, if you seek help now and do everything to help yourself, I don't believe you'd cause any comparable harm to you taking your own life now.
