Therapist wants to do EMDR, I don
My therapist wants me to try EMDR, but I dont know if that really fits my situation. What Im experiencing is more of a deep emptiness than something stemming from a trauma.
Im kind of getting the impression that she cant really help with the main issue, and thats making me feel really, really hopeless.
On the plus side, I've heard accounts of EMDR working well for some people who are not trauma survivors (even though EMDR was originally invented for trauma).
On the minus side, a therapist who gives you the impression she can't really help and who makes you feel really, really hopeless is the opposite of what you need. I can't imagine EMDR or anything else working well if you don't have a close and trusting relationship with your therapist. Can she maybe recommend a colleague you could see instead?
