Think I'm getting depressed
Hello everyone.. I'm not really sure where to start but lately I've been feeling really down and sort of depressed.. I am 20 and i don't really have any friends and I hardly ever go out and when I do I hate it and can't wait to come home.. I'm also really shy which makes it really hard to make friends and stuff like that.. I have just recently left my part time job because I really hated it and my life just feels really pointless and I sort of feel like giving up.. I don't really know what to do anymore :/ does anyone feel like this?? :/
I'm pretty much in the same boat as you!! I'm 19 and have been jobless for about 3 months now, so I have lots of time on my hands, and on top of that most of my friends are at college/have had fallen outs with so I'm feeling kinda lonely as of right now.
I have found that keeping busy has helped! :) I've been going to interviews, had therapy, taken my dog to the dog park, run errands for my family, etc etc <3 I'm also trying to look for ways I can volunteer within the community!
If you ever want to talk through your feelings and experiences, or need someone to bounce ideas off of, I'm always here!! I can't diagnose you, but maybe talking to a therapist about your struggles could help you understand your feelings and they'd be more qualified to diagnose you with something! :)
anyways I hope you have a great day and keep your chin up!! things do, can, and will get better with a little work
@Jesskate1996 I am sorry you are feeling depressed. When you are depressed it can get very lonely regardless of how many friends you have. Some people feel lonely in huge groups. I understand not having a ton of friends though. Or having friends who dont understand. If you feel up to it, maybe look for new ways to meet people. If you are in school, maybe try going to some clubs if you feel like it. There are also most likely support groups for depression in your area where you can meet people going through the same thing. Some churches have support groups too if you feel comfortable with that. Keeping busy and volunteering is a good way to help as mentioned by another poster before me. If you have a dog, try to get outside and exercise with it. I hope this helps. Feel free to message me.
