Thoughts about the stresses of life cause depressive feelings
3 years ago I had a random traumatic episode that involved me breaking down and crying as my brain felt like it went into overdrive. Madness is a good word to describe it.
Since that day I have overwhelming emotions of dread, despair and sadness. I even cried to work one day for absolutely no reason at all. I want to move on with my life again but every time I think about it, the thought of a relationship, children and full time work feels all too much. Its like my brain thinks of seomthing stressful and then it causes a surge of depression. What do I do. It makes me feel trapped. Please help.
Hey there! Sounds like you've had a rough couple of years in trying to deal with all the stress and trauma that started 3 years ago. I see that everytime you try to move forward with your life and take a fresh step, the thought of all the possibilities and things that awaits you becomes overwhelming and too stressful and leads you back to square one.
The future can definitely be scary with all it's uncertainties however, some things you mentioned like relationships, children, full time work ~ they're all big things but they arne't things you need to do all at the same time.
Have you ever tried to break down all the things to come into small bits? I see you mentioning that you want to move on with your life so would you consider making a rough timeline for yourself so you know exactly how much time you have before you even have to start worrying about each aspect?
For example: Hypothetically: If you wanted to start off with a job first, maybe you could put it on the timeline as
2020: Find a full time job i'm comfortable with and can continue doing
and then maybe 2022: some other goal you have
So it's kind of like setting small goals to achieve at a time to avoid everything piling up and becoming overly stressful. Do you have any similar ideas that you think might work for you?
