Trouble getting out of bed
Hey there everyone! I'm Jon. I've been struggling with getting out of the bed and making the most of my days. I work a flexible job with shifts that don't start until later in the day, allowing me the option to sleep in. However, I've been feeling down a good part of this summer and find myself staying in bed, whether its sleeping or being on my laptop. I used to be into making music, surfing, and doing things that better my mood and make me a more productive person. But recently, I have been struggling with finding the motiviation. Anyone got any advice on how to overcome this? Thanks
I am sorry that you are going through this.
@JonnyBoy9 Hey there. I get what you're going through here. What I like to do when I've got no motivation whatsoever to get out of bed and all, I say what my best friend used to tell me all the time before he passed. "Is this seriously what you're planning to do with your life? Yeah, it's hard. Yeah, it hurts like hell but are you so weak that you're just going to give up because if your 'problems'? It's petty and stupid and messed up. Get the f**k out of bed and live a little." I know this isn't the best solution to the problem that you're facing and there are probably other many ways to deal with the situation you've got going on here but getting mad at myself always helps me because it reminds me that I'm strong and that I can hold on and deal with my problems. Everything will pass.
@JonnyBoy9 Hi! I understand it can be frustrating when you lack motivation. Something that I've found helps me is watching videos of other people doing what I'm passionate about. Since you're into music, it might help if you watch a few videos of people making their own music and finding inspiration for your own. I'm not sure if that's helpful!
I hope that things get better.
Sometimes all you can do is give yourself a deadline...like tell yourself you have to get out of bed on five and then count to five. However long it takes you to count to five is entirely up to you. I think one day it took me about an hour and a half to get to five but you know, some days I can count to five in under ten seconds and those days, those days are great.
Another thing I've done is schedule things first thing in the morning, like apointents or even having people call me. That way on days off or days were you don't work until later, you can help force yourself to get up.
Those things have kinda helped me, I still struggle with it but like everything...it's a work in progress :) Hang in there!
